A fantastic piece detailing the building of my favorite sandal. I just resoled two pair of Birkenstocks and it was quite easy but it gives you a great view of the construction of these works of art. Heat and pressure is the creative element of these beautiful shoes. I’m always shocked when I view a video of someone sanding the soles off when a heatbed or heat gun does the job quickly. Keep building a great product Birkenstock !

Overpriced since owned by LVMH and stock market launch. And they terminated long lasting partnership with thousands of shoe vendors who supported the brand often for decades. A long term fan woeful says Good bye.

Explain why the Pisa cost $110 in 2009? They have always been pricey. You equate high price with going public? If anything, the problem will be the opposite: offshoring & cheapening production in an endless race to the bottom. If anything, KEEP the high prices so jobs stay home & quality is retained.

I got my arizonas in 2018, I think. They cost 80€ back then, now the same pair is 120€. I understand that inflation, rising supply costs and all are doing it’s thing, but it feels like a steep increase. My family has been wearing Birkenstocks for decades but with the new image and the rise of plastic being used instead of leather we don’t really fit their demographic anymore, unfortunately.

Also, I'd like the Kyoto in a tortise green horween shell cordovan. Since you already cut the pattern for the Kyoto is there anyway I could aend in the appropriate amount of leather to have your craftspeople assemble them in house retaining the Birkenstock quality & seal of approval?
