Biren Singh says more than 19,000 acres of illegal poppy cultivation have been destroyed in Manipur

In observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh flagged off a bike rally from his secretariat. The Chief Minister stated that while the Manipur government's war on drugs has contributed to the current crisis in the state, it remains committed to eradicating the drug menace. On Wednesday, Chief Minister Singh revealed a decline in drug trafficking cases, attributing this progress to the concerted efforts of people from both the hills and valleys, as well as security forces. He highlighted that satellite data mapping shows a significant reduction of 50-60% in poppy plantations, marking a major achievement in the state's fight against drug abuse.
