The Eurasian collared dove (Streptopelia decaocto) is a dove species originally native to Asia, which has spread to Europe, been introduced to North America, and is present in China, Japan and Korea.
Eurasian Collared-Doves have plump bodies, small heads, and long tails. They’re larger than Mourning Doves but slimmer and longer-tailed than a Rock Pigeon. The wings are broad and slightly rounded. The broad tail is squared off at the tip, rather than pointed like a Mourning Dove’s.

The sound of summer in Eastern Europe.
It reminds me of the romanian childhood. Even if I was in Bucharest or in the countryside, these birds would simply sing.
I love waking up early in the summer mornings and hear them cooing along with other birds. Such an amazing feeling 🤩

We are surrounded by collared doves wake up call at 6.30. Salar in Spain. Also lots of other birds too. We have had 4 baby doves from one nest and now sitting again xx
I have one that looks like this in the US as a pet. Love her so far. She likes to listen to this a lot. Beautiful birds, they love to clean themselves
Recently rescued and raised one of these beautiful doves. The calls are equally as beautiful.

You don't see(hear ;)) many of these Eurasian Collared Doves on Southern Spain anymore, since a couple years ago. We've been invaded by Monk Parakeets and they are the only bird you see right now... I loved hearing these Doves when I was young coming from school, it meant that summer-break was getting close.

Reminds me of when I used to go to my city's music school. It was on top of a hill inside the city, so every day I had to go up and down that hill, and I would hear the doves singing. It's like I can feel the smell of the pine forests.
