Hi everyone. Hope you are all well. This is my latest video where I am doing a bit of bird photography in and around some farmland. There is a 5 second loss of audio at some point for which I apologise. I also uploaded a couple of low res shots at the end by mistake, however I really hope you enjoy the video and thanks so much for spending time watching! See you on the next one!😀

I have that lens with a Panasonic G9 (now 5 years old). Can you convince me that the Olympus System OM-1 body will give me better bird photographs here in Perth? Expensive though at AU$2,634. Great shots by the way Richard and all that way away in Okinawa, Japan! I was looking at the Canon R7 with bird eye focus and only $1500AU but would need to buy all new lenses too and sell all the Panasonic lenses. Subscribed.

The OM1 is a great camera. However I haven't used the G9 so cant really compare the 2. I do think the increased speed plus the bird AI detection are huge improvements over older models like my old EM1mk11. If you can rent, borrow or steal one for a day that might be the way to go. Good luck🙏🤔👍🇦🇺

Saludos y muchas gracias.

Hello Richard. I just got the PL 100-400 for my OM-1 and I am inquiring on what your set up is for the IBIS/IS. There seems to be some disagreement in what works best - lens IS or IBIS in the OM-1. Both "on" don't talk to one another but I have found that leaving both on seems to steady the shot better than say turning off the lens IS and relying on just the in body IBIS. Need to test further but curious on what you have found works the best. Thank you.

Did this Panasonic lens leave any metal shavings on your OM-1? I tried several copies for my EM1.2 but eventually gave up and got the Olympus version, which is great. No stiff zoom there, either!

Great video. I was wondering why you chose the PL 100-400 over the Olympus 100-400 or did you have the PL lens before you purchased the OM-1? Your photos look spot on with this combination so I am assuming you would not gain a significant amount of additional stabilization with the Olympus model. I am a G9 shooter so I am familiar with PL lenses but not the 100-400. I am looking at the OM-1 for bird photography and either of these lenses for a zoom kit as I also have a D500 & 500 PF for a prime kit. (Waiting for the Z8 ? or Z500? for an update with good eye focus. Have you found any issues with your combination? Thanks again for your videos.

Hi Gary. The OM1 works really well with the PL100400. Have had no problems. I also have the D500 and 500mm ( I have done a video on that lens) which is a great combination but I love the small size and weight of the M43 set up. I imagine the OM1 AF would be quite a step up from the G9. Thanks for watching😀🙏

@@garydubberly6608 There were a lot of problems with this lens, both the zoom issue and not fitting well (leaving metal shavings in the body). It would be interesting to see how many PLs hit the used market when the Olympus 100-400 came out.
