3rd episode of series Bird Eye. Short video from Johnstone shot with drone. When I finished this video I realized I was filming ghost town. Usually in this small town in Scotland are lot of people on streets but now almost nobody.

Lived in Sandyflats from birth til 1975. Kilbarchan Road 75-82. Dimity street in town centre from 1982-1995. When I visit the town centre seems to be thriving with plenty of shops available & services & it’s much busier than Paisley seems now. I guess Johnstone serves Kilbarchan, Elderslie, Linwood, LocheinnichBridge Of Weir, Hoowood, Brookfield, crosslee, Houston, Craigends, as well as Paisley as a retail area?
Excellent got a lot of us in there. Especially good for those no longer staying here.
Loved this!! I left Johnstone for Australia 40 years ago and it’s so lovely to be able to look back at the town as it is. The hills in the background are simply stunning! Thank you for making this 👏👏

used to be a brilliant town full of hard working good families until thatcher destroyed the biggest employers in the area which it has never recovered from

Wrong mate. The unions destroyed Johnstone, Linwood, Elderslie and the rest. I know from first hand experience.
This is absolutely wonderful! What a moment to capture in time. Generations to come will be able to see how the town looked during these challenging times. Congratulations for capturing the moment for posterity. Out of interest, what model of drone do you have? Best regards.
