@@faizanrehman4407 Yes, bioptic telescopic glasses do help people with Stargardts Disease see better. If you Google "low vision" you may be able to locate a low vision doctor close to where you are.

Hi Dr. Armstrong: I'm from Puerto Rico. I saw an information about this glasses some years ago. Then I showed it to my low vision doctor but she told me that the glasses are for people with more vision than me. Are there any changes in the magnification or the prescription needed to use the glasses?

Thanks for watching my videos. Yes, improvements have been made in low vision glasses. Whether they will help you depends on the cause of your vision loss and the amount of your remaining vision. Your doctor in PR should be able to help answer your questions. Good luck.

Does that help with high astigmatism? I have myopia and very high stigmatism and have a hard time getting a prescription and have to see a low vision specialist and I'm wondering if that would help for me to be able to read books or a computer

Good question Rosie. Bioptics and other telescopic glasses include the person's eyeglass prescription. Your astigmatism and myopia prescription would be built into the telescopes. Bioptic telescopic glasses are made for distance vision. For reading or computer use a different type of telescopic glasses are used that focus at the closer distance. Hi Doctor, My Sister has been diagnose of Stargards and what i have seen, her central vision is not working but she can well seen with her peripheric vision. in case your glass can help, will you allow us to buy it ? please understand our posistion, we are just looking to help our sister.

I do understand. It is wonderful that she has you helping her. Low vision glasses are prescribed by a doctor who carefully evaluates the person's vision and their needs. That requires that the person go to the doctor for the evaluation. There is no way of knowing if low vision glasses will help your sister without a low vision evaluation. It cannot be done long distance. If your sister is in the United States please have her call me. 866 321-2030 If she's in another country she will have to locate a low vision doctor there. The price, of course, depends upon the type of low vision glasses I determine will be most helpful to you. The bioptic telescopic glasses that the DMV allows people to drive with is usually about $2900. Could be more or less depending on your needs.
