    Seemed bright enough and straight on detection was good as in it would be great for the side of the house where one doesn't really want to annoy the neighbors. Would like a little wider side detection though. I have a similar product that sticks in the ground. For the price, no complaints. Thanks for the review.

    I like it! In fact, I bought 6 to go around the outside of my entire house after being beaten on my deck. My attacker left the gate open and took me by serprise but not my hunting hound Luckly, my hound dog chased the guy off my deck. He couldn't get off the deck fast enough, and somehow ended up bent over the gate, fell hard over it, and ran. My dog stopped where I was layed out on the deck and wouldn't give chase Only wish they had a camera biult in.

    I have one and it works like it’s advertised. It’s very bright at night. BUT...while the light rotates, the solar panel doesn’t. It just moves 90° from the light itself. I hung mine, horizontally, in the carport and there’s the problem. As it is, mine only gets direct sunlight in the late afternoon.

  • @MrTrivFun
    @MrTrivFun4 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for your review, but you left out the most important question not addressed. How long does the product last? I saw on their marketing website, a 90 day guarantee. Be that as it may, but the product will probably stop working all together at that time or shortly thereafter, and need to be trashed. I’ve purchased similar-priced products and they’re useless down the road, and just after a short bit. Your thoughts please on this bionicspotlight, as to its actual lasting time in real use? Maybe a $20 investment for 90 days, or so, is fine for some, or not? Thanks.

    Review of your review: Blasting the light at the camera is somewhat effective in letting viewers know how bright it is. Better suggestion? Video the dark yard when the light comes on - that's what I was hoping for. How far out and how wide does the illumination extend? Their TV commercial says, "600 square feet" but that is not helpful. You said this wasn't a product review but indeed, I would have loved to see the difference between those two (hadn't even heard of the other one) in how it lit up the yard. It LOOKS like the older one would do better at side-lighting due to the LED's that are actually mounted toward the side of the unit. Anyway, that's my review of this vid - I'll keep searching and hope someone else has what I'm looking for.

    While you think that's a big solar panel, it's actually very small and does not put out much energy. It won't keep the battery charged if the light is used in a busy pathway at night. When reviewing a battery operated device one should provide some pertinent info about how that battery works under practical conditions. What voltage is it? How many mAh is it? Is it user replaceable or is it a sealed device meaning once the battery fails all you've got left is a non-blinking decoy "camera". How long will it light the LEDs to PRACTICAL levels without being recharged (due to rainy days)? Criminals know that a red BLINKING light on a "camera" means it's fake. Real cams mostly don't blink. Plus, the real ones are BLUE. Thanks for the review. It was nice to see the adjustments that can be made to the light and solar panel angles. Panel angles are CRITICAL for maximizing energy from the sun depending on north or south hemisphere and latitude at whcih it is located.

    It could simply be factory set at too sensitive a level, and sometimes simple and normal variations in component tolerances can result in false positives when the design doesn't properly doesn't take those component variations into consideration. ..not a frequent problem...but also not an unknown problem in electronic devices. One example...the manufacturer buys a different or "upgraded" part and the new component has specifications that are different enough from the original part to cause unexpected performance. The change may be so save money by buying a cheaper part, or because the original part has been obsoleted by its manufacturer and replaced with an "improved" part. It could be a part as simple as a resistor or one as complex as an integrated circuit...or the IR sensor chip itself. In such cases even changes in AIR temperatures can result in triggering the device. There may also be nearby equipment that causes temperature changes (such as air conditioners, heaters, incandescent light bulbs, etc.). Indoor "motion" sensors in security systems often have to be adjusted to compensate for A/C and heating systems turning off and on...the instructions sometimes cover this. In some products I've seen when used in especially hot or cold environments the sensitivity adjustment just can't be adjusted to eliminate false positives because they are working near or outside the extreme ends of their operational environmental envelopes. The closer the ambient temperature is to the minimum or maximum operational temperature, the more likely one is to get false positives OR non-detection of actual incursions which of course can be worse.

    Off topic Jeff; with all the concern over this new corona virus, have you ever reviewed any products which claim to "kill" viruses? I'm especially interested in utilizing UVC light and/or ozone gas......I did take a quick look through your older videos but didn't see anything, I may have missed it however! Could well be products that your subscribers would find interesting and helpful at this time?

  • @Jeffreviews4u

    I've looked into some of those, the difficulty thing is it is hard to prove the test - does that make sense? It is one thing to make a claim, but another to show that it worked. thanks for the tip!

  • @brendandoherty2159

    @@Jeffreviews4u Yeah proving that UVC light, is actual UVC light could be kinda tricky. However there's no mistaking the scent of ozone, and its' anti viral properties are well established so no need for YOU to prove that.....one very obvious problem I've found is that we're all supposed to eat a healthy diet to ensure our immune response is optimal....so lots of fresh fruit and veggies....right? But how do you "wash" ingredients for a salad for instance....hand washing is with hot soapy water for 20 secs minimum....you ain't gonna do that with a lettuce!!!! Ozone generator setup to push the ozone through water; the ozonated water "sterilizing" any food product you're gonna use uncooked.

    Couple of additional points: the enclosed instructions state that the unit is not designed for freezing temps. So unless you live in the south, it is not practical. I bought 2, one works, the other is unpredictable. It sometimes activates the blinking red, but no LEDs. if the LEDs do come on, it may be 5 sec., 10 sec., maybe the full 30. I feel these are junk, IMHO.
