In this tutorial I show you how to make a Bionic Helmet that matches my Bionic Arm. This is made from 20 gauge steel, although you can certainly use other materials to build it such as Eva Foam, fiberglass or plastic.
I keep this process simple and inexpensive. All the tools I use are tools you will likely find in your own garage. Grab your hammers and let's get started!

You make manipulating metal look quite easy. I'm a metal fabricator that's self taught so I learned quite a bit on my own. I wish I would have found or seen your videos so much sooner than I did. Your an excellent teacher and quite a few of your techniques that you show can be used in quite a bit of metal fabrication. Keep up the amazing work. I always look forward to seeing your work!

I have something of a suggestion for your power source. I'd use an old cell phone battery or lithium polymer cell. LiPo cells can be easily acquired at which point you can get a charging board just as easy. The batteries themselves cost around $5 while the battery management boards cost less than a dollar and have a preinstalled micro USB for use with a standard cellphone charger. That way you could have a micro USB to charge the system and not have to worry about changing batteries when one goes dead.

Nice. Rev2 idea. Instead of having a switch installed in the mask you could create contact points on both the helmet and the mask to complete the circuit. The intention being that the eye light up automatically as soon as the mask is attached to the helmet. (And auto turn off when removed)

you could put an extra magnet on to the helmet part not to hold it on but it could activate the mask when you place it on, and then the switch could be an override to shut it down when on, would also act as a battery saver cause the mask would auto turn off when you take it off, plus the whole thing would have a cool added effect

  • @DavidGuyton

I will be doing a video soon on making a dishing stump. But it's pretty straightforward. You need to find a log of hardwood (such as oak) a great place to look is firewood for sale, or a tree that has been down for a year or more. Wood that has been dead for a year or more is "seasoned", or in other words dried out, which is important. After you get a log that is suitable, you just need to hollow out an area. Some people use a chisel but I just used a handheld grinder to make mine.

Since you are working with so small gauge sheet metal I suggest you get few different size rubber hammers(with a round head) as well, they are heavier than a wooden hammer so its should be easier to shape the metal. It helps keeping the metal clean off of bumps and scratches while you are shaping it. :) Or a copper head hammer.
