In this tutorial I show you how to make a Bionic Helmet that matches my Bionic Arm. This is made from 20 gauge steel, although you can certainly use other materials to build it such as Eva Foam, fiberglass or plastic.
I keep this process simple and inexpensive. All the tools I use are tools you will likely find in your own garage. Grab your hammers and let's get started!

It’s nice to see people making their own designs, when I search “mechanical mask/helmet” it’s all cosplay
The quality of your videos continues to get better and better! Another great build! 👍👍

David Guyton how well can you see out of the faceplate with the LEDS on?
As an engineer, I can definitely build a computer into the helmet. the biggest challenge is to build an air filter into the mask.

the magnets are a really nice touch for the facemask part! Love this build even if I'm not that much in the futuristic genre.
Lot of prop builders out there making Ironman helmets they can barely see out of that need to watch this vid. Great work as always. This channel inspired me to make a screen accurate mostly aluminum sheet Kylo Ren helmet. Took almost half a year but was well worth it.
This is seriously one of the coolest props I have ever seen in my entire life.
awesome...just awesome.i hope the art of blacksmithing never fades away.I wish I could do that
I subscribed to your channel years ago along with downloading your armor template app. I'm quite impressed with your level of expertise and talent that you have. You make manipulating metal look quite easy. I'm a metal fabricator that's self taught so I learned quite a bit on my own. I wish I would have found or seen your videos so much sooner than I did. Your an excellent teacher and quite a few of your techniques that you show can be used in quite a bit of metal fabrication. Keep up the amazing work. I always look forward to seeing your work!

thank you sir! Glad you enjoyed the video!
That looks like a real life concept art or prototype for the CoG helmets from gears of war 1 or 2 and I love it!
Ah so actually removing my head isn't okay? Good, glad we covered this
so happy I just stumbled on this page. you are insanely talented my friend.
I love sculpting with sheet metal & I can't believe I just found your channel! I'm definitely inspired to do more work like this. Great tips & I'll be making me one those end cap pipe dishing anvils. Awesome work!
this is definitely one of the coolest thing on the internet
I have something of a suggestion for your power source. I'd use an old cell phone battery or lithium polymer cell. LiPo cells can be easily acquired at which point you can get a charging board just as easy. The batteries themselves cost around $5 while the battery management boards cost less than a dollar and have a preinstalled micro USB for use with a standard cellphone charger. That way you could have a micro USB to charge the system and not have to worry about changing batteries when one goes dead.
Dude that's awesome. In that one 10 minute video I got so many tips and ideas for tooling and metal shaping I'm looking forward to applying them to my own work. Great work and I'm excited to watch more of your videos.
Nice. Rev2 idea. Instead of having a switch installed in the mask you could create contact points on both the helmet and the mask to complete the circuit. The intention being that the eye light up automatically as soon as the mask is attached to the helmet. (And auto turn off when removed)
that craftsmanship and this mask! cool af!
Thank you for making REALLY good how to videos. I plan to make most of what you show. Thanks
You make it seem so simple. Great job!
So, I actually found this page checking our your custom door panels video, and I just wanted to thank you for showing me the coolest thing I have seen all week.

I still say if you did work on TV or movies for armour, it would HAVE to win you a pretty prestigious award.
That's what i call a work of art dude! Nice job i enjoy!! Thanks for share!
Nice build! Look forward to the new masks.
badass! outstanding metal work...😎
DUDE, U HAVE AMAZING TALENT
This helmet the arm and the superhero breast and back plat should make a Great looking ensemble.

Nice, nice, nice! These are the nicest costume armor pieces on the internet bar none.
That looks so cool! Now I want to make my own one...
amazing, concept, craftsmanship. badass person.
you could put an extra magnet on to the helmet part not to hold it on but it could activate the mask when you place it on, and then the switch could be an override to shut it down when on, would also act as a battery saver cause the mask would auto turn off when you take it off, plus the whole thing would have a cool added effect
Great Job, Dave
AWESOME WORK DUDDER!
amazing work, you have inspired me to start my own projects
dude this isan awesome tutorial. I've been working on a metal hockey mask, I wish I would have known half the things you showed in your video.
awesome work! thanks for the videos
I really like that faceplate, reminds of space marines and bionicles!
Splendid job!!
for the visor, you could use night shade spray paint on a piece of plastic
That's pretty sick man!
Dude ,that is one cool ass hobby .
OMG! You guy must come out of Ephestus dude!!! Keep up the good work, your hands are some kind of blessed! Many likes.
It's a mix between Iron Man's helmet and the power armor helmet from Fallout 4... I love it!!!
instead of using the metal dish, if you can't get that, you can get a wooden stump and make a small dish in it... works like a charm.
Great work man!
Dude I wish I could make this stuff, it is so badass
For a full bionic set you can craft a power supply on a belt or something to power the complet armor.
im impressed how round you got the dome with just dishing. i remember when i did my first helmet how much of a hard time i had. ive gotten much better now, with new tools and skills, but still dread going for that second attempt.

I don't enjoy the dishing either...but it's pretty satisfying looking at it after I beat the metal into submission and forced it to take the shape I wanted haha

David Guyton i love watching your videos but id need to sort out a dishing stump before i can try out any of your templates, if youve got any tips on making the bowl itself id love to hear them
@DavidGuyton

I will be doing a video soon on making a dishing stump. But it's pretty straightforward. You need to find a log of hardwood (such as oak) a great place to look is firewood for sale, or a tree that has been down for a year or more. Wood that has been dead for a year or more is "seasoned", or in other words dried out, which is important. After you get a log that is suitable, you just need to hollow out an area. Some people use a chisel but I just used a handheld grinder to make mine.

thanks for the response, ill keep an eye out for some hardwood and i look forward to seeing more videos
Its the best armor what i ever see!!!
i have an idea. there should be wired plugging into the base of your skull, into your skin, with a bar code underneath. there should also be more chiseled cheek bones, or something to give it more of a skull look. either way, this is really cool and looks like fun.
Nice work.
awesome video love it great work.
This is super cool! you make a bionic leg, and torso armor, you'd pretty much have an updated RoboCop cosplay!
Great content man.
Hotglue is a very sturdy material. Check out foam core airplanes, they're hot glue, cheap ass foam and sticks + electronics and it works beautifully. I always enjoy the videos, and I look forward to more.
THAT IS AWESOME!
beautifull work!!!
You should keep doing bionic themed armor. They're SOOOO COOL!!
i'm shock on how you don't have more subs then 100 k , thought u would be at 500k or close to 1 million or some thing , but i love the vidoes and keep up the grate work

Just goes to show you that not everyone is into what we are. Remember that for future reference.
I would like to see you make a real effective armor suit. Made with tempered steel and kevlar and fiberglass fabric with epoxy together. Making you bullet proof. Accrylic protection for the eyes. Devices that amplify sound so you can hear better etc.
not sure if this will work with this metal but you can use a jeweler's saw to cut curves but yes it takes longer then the cutting wheel but it dose come out smoother
I always love your videos, very impressive metal smithing keep up the good work :)
That's amazing! I'd like to build something similar and use it as a motorcycle helmet.
Since you are working with so small gauge sheet metal I suggest you get few different size rubber hammers(with a round head) as well, they are heavier than a wooden hammer so its should be easier to shape the metal. It helps keeping the metal clean off of bumps and scratches while you are shaping it. :) Or a copper head hammer.
Looks like something from the Warhammer 40k universe. Very cool!
Awesome videos. I subscribed!
looks great, 👏
Deserves a full suit... and a badass fight scene.
awesome video! i would really wish you did a whole suit of knights armor
Brother. I love watching your vidoes.

One of my professors in college, showed us 3M Super 77, and said "this is the best damn spray adhesive money can buy."
@DavidGuyton

Spray adhesive, yes, probably, but landau adhesive is much stronger. That stuff comes in cans but you are supposed to use a gun to spray it with. I use it for my car interior parts and I just brush it on.
I love it! AWESOME!
Watching you work is the best kind of construction porn.
Sweet dude!!
With all these bionic parts, it would make you a cyborg
that is so cool man
It would be cool it you ran the circuit through to the magnets on the head mount as well as the face plate, so when you put the faceplate on the circuit would be completed, lighting up the eyes. just an idea
Haha, damn, that is fucken dope! Why in the eff have we not seen you on the news fighting crime yet?? You could start some kind of revolution, like kick-ass or something!
More more I love this entirely
bro, you are great !
also, I'm sure someone has said this but I would love to see a chozodian Varia suit helmet from Metroid prime but I digress your work is spectacular
Great stuff man, yuo're pretty good ! cheers.
so sick I love it
Your voice is very soothing. I subbed
If you want to make another helmet like this one to fit your head, I would recommend a life cast. Either punished props, I like to make stuff, or tested. One of those channels.
Wonderful work ! Created this from simple meterial and tools! You are a realy professional!! How to add some electrical elements, visual ligth effects like neopixel ?
You can cut the bottom off an old retired oxygen or acetylene tank to use for banging out a bowl shape.
you must win Halloween every year
this is so cool. can you see well with leds? i tried once do put some plexiglass but didn't work. considerer another mesh, but thinier, like we use with those herbs balls for tea. No glass at all, just metal. you see so clear and it looks impossible.

vision is barely hindered at all with the lights off. With the lights on, you can see, but I wouldn't say WELL. As long as you are in a lit up area and not a dark room, it's not much of a problem.
i just downloaded your app amazing stuff.
what's the music you use at the end when you're showing off the build?
I just found this by accident searching ideas to make a realistic metal armor cosplay because I don't want to do 3d or use worbla or foam! I love this! So incredible! teach me Senpai!! lol
