Biogas Digester? - Free Cooking - How to - Envirotube

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Joyti Shankar, Sustainability Officer at Ku-ring-gai Council, truly practices what she preaches. Joyti shows Peter Clarke the ins and outs of using a Biodigester and even cooks him a snack using food scraps converted to methane gas in her backyard biodigester. Joyti also has a fascinating backyard filled with recycled items as well as a vegetable garden, native fish and native Australian bees. A really inspiring video. Presented by Envirotube’s Peter Clarke. Director Howard Jackson, Wildhoop Productions. Loving, living, Ku-ring-gai.

I want a bio digester system for a few reasons but I have to figure it all out and build it! I want to cook with it heat with it and run a propane refrigerator freezer too!

Buy one from HomeBiogas I got the tolit version and its well worth the money and you can run about anything because methane is natural gas so anything you can run off natural gas or propane will work for propane get a conversion kit or drill out the orfis I'm running my propane stove and my natural gas on demand water heater.

Notice it is in a poly tunnel. It only works if warm enough so simple to use in warm areas but doubt it will work in northern areas unless very well insulated or large enough to generate it's own heat. It is not however new as they were using the biodigesters for cooking etc in Africa back in the 60s.

Yes, indeed. This is old technology, now made easy for urban areas. the system needs 20 degrees Celsius temperature to function well. It is not as effective in Sydney winters but I can still cook weekly unlike summers when we can cook daily. We can use a stick heater to heat up the slurry but we haven't done that.

Hello. How long (approximately) will two gallons of methane last using a one burner stove on medium heat last on average OR how many gallons would be needed for 30 minutes of cooking under the same stipulations? Thanks.

The exact setup shown in the video would deliver about 90 minutes continual use on medium heat from about 500g food waste. This is my estimate but I could very well be off either way
