Biodiversity - Research Project expands Natural Park in Portugal

Golegã, Portugal - Over the last few years we've been developing a project to protect ecosystems and support biodiversity while maintaining the potential to increase the productivity of agricultural fields.
The main objective is to create conditions for farmers to transform their farms in large natural parks.
The concept of closed natural park without farmers doesn't work, in our opinion. Intensive farming without conservation responsibilities also has no future.
So we are promoting ecological corridors for wild species. We try to create a natural network where all species can circulate, inhabit and reproduce on our farms, without compromising our main activity.
Ecological corridors promote physical continuity of vegetation and refuge for many species. Without these infrastructures much of the fauna that exists here can not move, which leads to the loss of biodiversity in the species. The lack of these ecological corridors can reduce biodiversity within species and therefore, compromise their adaptation to new situations created by climate change and intensive agriculture.
In this video, we see images of Paúl do Boquilobo, a National Park near our farm, wich connects to near fields and that connects to our exploration. Together we managed to promote a corridor that will unite the park to the less intensive agricultural and forestry zones of the district of Santarém, Portugal.
