Biocivilisations: A New Look at the Science of Life

Are there cognitive worlds beyond the human?
Dr Predrag Slijepčević is a bio-scientist interested in the philosophy of biology. He investigates how biological systems, from bacteria to animals and beyond, perceive and process environmental stimuli, leading to forms of biological intelligence that may qualify them as cognitive agents.
Drawing from his new book, 'Biocivlisations: A New Look at the Science of Life', he shows how bacteria, plants, insects, birds, whales, elephants and countless other species demonstrate elements of what we know as ‘civilisation’- complex communication, agriculture, science, art, medicine and more, and a term we usually reserve for humans, but which is evident across a number of species.
