I never had fondant until my wedding cake. We wanted a certain look that the bakers found difficult to achieve. They suggested we use fondant, we agreed. Our cake looked like how we drew it but the taste... I wasn't a fan at all. At least I know now just wish it wasn't my wedding cake experience but I'll never forget. The cake flavor itself was delicious though.
If Super Princess Peach ever gets a sequel, we definitely need a minigame where Peach bakes a variety of cakes.

In Paper Mario 64, there's a segment where Peach bakes a cake and you follow instructions to do so. It would be funny to see a video where you follow those instructions exactly and see how it turns out.

Pro tip from a cake decorator! When you're piping icing out from a big, full bag like that, put your dominant hand (off hand holding the top of the bag if necessary) closer to the base/tip of the bag and twist it, so you're only pushing out what you can comfortably hold. Makes it a lot easier to control the bag, and your piping should come out smoother as well!

I personally could have done without it if only cause I'm not really a fan of his singing. Nothing against him as an actor and i think he was perfect for the role of Bowser but that scene just took me right out of the movie and he stopped being Bowser and just went back to Jack Black. Course I was right back into the movie as soon as he quit singing. I can only assume that Black has some kind of clause in his contract that says he's allowed to sing if he's hired.

Great idea with the peach filling! I dont think i wouldve thought of that. Funny, in most iterations of Peach's cakes, they always give dominance to strawberry... i always kind've imagined most of her cakes to be Strawberry Shortcake-y.

If you don't wanna use fondant, you could always use modeling chocolate, Nathalie Sidesurf from Sidesurf Cake Studio uses it on her cakes
@TiggerIsMyCat
Жыл бұрын
As long as you're using real chocolate to make it and not candy melts, lol. I might be in the minority, but fake chocolate is only barely more edible than fondant. My friend loves it, I think it's the second-most disgusting "sweet" on earth, second only to fondant. But modeling chocolate CAN be made by melting REAL chocolate, too. (It's not chocolate, officially, if it doesn't have cocoa butter, and these fake chocolates usually use vegetable oil, and I find the taste repulsive)
Me and my two older brothers played super Mario 64 and paper Mario 64 when we were kids and seeing you make this cake definitely made me feel very happy and nostalgic (maybe cry a bit too). Thank you Andrew, you’re amazing! ☺️🥲💜

Neat! Reminds me of when Betty Crocker used to make peach cake mix and peach frosting. They were quite nice; shame they stopped making 'em.
I love Super Mario 64 so much given that it was my childhood game that made me the nerdy gamer I am today. But to see Babish recreate the cake shown after the credits in Mario 64 is really touching coming from a die hard Mario fan like myself. 😊 I’m sure the original voice actors both Charles Martinet & Leslie Swan (Peach’s original voice actress in the games prior to Jen Taylor (known nowadays for voicing Halo’s Cortana) and Samatha Kelly currently) and at the same Mario’s creator & game director Shigeru Miyamoto-san would all be so proud. So to quote Mario similarly in the game in that last cake shot: “Thank you so much for a making dis cake.”
Truly one of the singing of all time lol. Great time to make this after the movie came out!
Ooh! Cake and Mario! Perfect nostalgia combo! ❤

I want to see you make the honeycake from Arthur episode, "Dad's Dessert Dilemma"
I'd happily make this but I'm making it with proper buttercream or the stabilised whipped cream I saw in one of your other videos because Swiss meringue is sickly sweet in my opinion
@ZomBabeZoe

@Faris T the stabilized whipped cream always comes out well
4:02 watching that butter disappear quickly was oddly satisfying.
Wow if only this video came out a week ago haha For easter I made a lemon blueberry cake for my family and the blueberry was a compote filling in the centre, i was so unsure of how to keep the filling inside of the cake without it squooshing all out. though to be fair my frosting was a little softer so I dont think this would have worked. In the end I blended up my filling into a paste and spread a thin layer into the cake, and it just absorbed into the cake but it still made a nice defined layer and it looked like it was intentional too so it all worked in my favor hahaha
Looks delicious! Great job as always, Andrew!

We’re gonna need Arcade with Alvin for that
I absolutely loved the ending soundtrack from mario 64!! Its so whimsical yet a tad bit nostalgic and sad
Babish, you got it all right except with this being in the context of Mario, that's probably not going to be a buttercream cake but a Japanese-style shortcake, meaning the layers would be made of chiffon and the cream would have been something along the lines of stabilized Chantilly cream. I can see the problem that would pose with draping over the bottom two layers but you might have been able to get away with it at medium peaks, and then pour on a frozen cake. Nevertheless an enjoyable episode! Thank you for the food~
Please do Jake Peralta’s Gummy Breakfast Burrito from Brooklyn Nine Nine!
hearing and seeing babish is like getting to see that one favorite cousin at the family reunion even though you love all your cousins equally.
I'm sure Alvin will forgive you for barging into his Arcade series territory when he gets to taste that cake.
There are ways to bake cake without it doming in the oven. You can put pre-soaked cake strips around the outside of the cake pan (I recommend Wilton brand cake strips) or you can bake the cake at 325F which slows the rise in the leavener (check for doneness after the original bake time and every 5 minutes after until the cake is fully baked).
Mario games really mean the world to me. Fun, freedom, and childhood wonder
that starting rhyme was gold :)
"mix in a teaspoon or however much that was of vanilla extract" is the most accurate depiction of my baking strategy
You are awesome and i love how you go step by step for people
"Thanks you so much for baking my cake"
Please make The Fried Orb from The Owl House episode, "Really Small Problem"
This is one I never would have thought you’d have made
This cake is a true masterpiece. ❤😎🚬🎂

What about Bowser's wedding cake?
I remember playing this on my 64, now I’m playing it again on my switch! Oh the nostalgia
I just realized an amazing idea for an episode: The cake from Super Mario RPG Legend of the Seven Stars that Booster has for the wedding. It's massive, wonky, and would be fun to watch.
Do the Cake from Kirby Squeak Squad
Just in time for the Super Mario Bros. Movie!
Don't worry Babish. To make up for this not being an Arcade with Alvin, he can make the OTHER Mario Cake: Bundt and Raspberry from Super Mario RPG!
If you want to amke any more cakes, might I suggest investing in a cake wire cutter? It's basically a taut wire that, depending on which brand you get, you can adjust, so you can use that to cut the cake much more evenly. The only thing is you'd just have to move the wire steadily across, so it won't come out lumpy. But definitely easier than using a long knife.
This made me cry. Before anyone judges why a Peach cake made me cry, please read. My cat Peach (who was named after the game) was diagnosed with congestive heart failure March 29th and passed away April 2nd. While she was in the hospital getting treatment my fiancé and I watched Babbish to try and get our mind off of stuff. He heard of Babbish before but I have never heard of him. We binged his videos for hours and even the day of her passing. Now I see this cake. I know the movie just came out by the coincidence is killing me. 😭 👑 🍑

finally an actual babish episode. It seemed like alvin took over this.
This hits harder now that Charles Martinet retired from doing Mario's voice.
Use a sheet of acetate to create nice smooth curves with buttercream! It curves and you've already got it to use for the chocolate!
Someone should make this then send it to Charles for his retirement.
This made me think of the cake boss from Super Mario RPG on SNES. I understand if the team doesn't want to make 3 cake layers that are about 4 feet tall each for a 12 foot tall cake. To be show accurate, the Babish crew would have to fight it when it comes alive, only for Andrew to swallow the entire thing in one bite at the end.
Wow that looks like a lot of job but you pulled it perfectly! Congratulations! It really looks very sweet and delicious, if only I have a bakery near me who can make it... Thank you very much for this recipe! 🙏💕
That cake is burned into my memory. First time I was ever moved to tears by a piece of music.
"Thank you So Much for Playing My Game!" -Mario, Post-Credits
Cutting that stencik with a cricut or vinyl cutter would have made the job much smoother. I use mine for making stencils for warhammer models when i airbrush
That bottom cake reminded me of the birthday cake you decorate in Mario Paint
If i recall an old Zero Punctuation about Mario, eating peach filling was definitely implied by a euphemistic cake.
"it's probably best to cheat with fondant but fondant's gross" truer words have never been spoken
I'm glad to see Arcade has room now for both Andrew and Alvin
Those who played Paper Mario know all about baking this cake. Gotta remember to count the oven timer with Mississippi's.
My mom knows a butter cream frosting recipe that involves shortening to reduce the butter. It give the frosting that rich creamy taste that’s not to sweet
With that much butter, you know the cake's gonna be divine
Finally something Mario related has arrived
Thank you so much for playing my game!
Butter cream frosting is the dessert I'm the best at making. I can't make the rest of a cake yet, but I can do the frosting very nicely!
