this movie is a real gem , even to those who are non religious , it has a great story . i do not believe in god but i do enjoy some of these sorts of movies , i highly recommend (the shack 2017 ) real older movie gems ( the whisperers 1967,)( the caretaker 1963 ) . (turn the key softly 1953 ), all the last 3 movies are real gems , and older people will love these . if you own or work in an old peoples home , set up a home cinema room with a huge screen , trust me you will make them very happy . i wish i had a home cinema to go around old peoples homes and play them nostlaglic movies . they cant see or hear much on a small tv in a day room . I even struggled to see and hear a small tv when i was 30 ish working in old peoples homes , so how are old people meant to really enjoy a movie ? when theres so much going on in a sitting room , they put a tv there just for show , as the old folk cant hear it or see it , if i struggle at 30 ,to see it or hear it , they had no chance , i think there should be movies at least 3 times a week on a loud large screen for old folks and they should be able to vote for what movie they want to watch that eveing .

That was the year my grandmother died. My mom‘s mom of course we had two grandmothers, but my mom‘s mom was really special. She was a very gifted woman and had many heavy burdens to carry in life. a she wrote the most beautiful poetry about the Lord and the miracles in life. Even when the area where she was living was changing, she didn’t want to leave it although she had to she was often invited to preach in the churches that were now of different religion, but that didn’t matter to grandma if she could tell you about the Lord, she could tell you about Jesus that was the only thing that mattered to her. She was a very special lady and she been gone a long time. This movie makes me think of her.

1 hr 13 . 31 : Glad they got plenty of music in.☺️🎼. Echoing my previous comment , Bing displays his " signature " style at this point : " Don't forget the " dip " , that's where the money is ! He looks relaxed, pleasant, " natural "☺️. Some would say this film's a bit " corny", but really, it's just a nice, " feel good " movie. No blood, foul words, explosions, stress, conflicts , cruelty, shocks... I don't like the modern films : so much nastiness, that they promote as " Living On The Edge"😢. I'd rather have a lovely old film with messages about life, kindness, etc. So grateful to be able to see this one again.☺️ One of the best uses for the modern technologies. 🎼☺️🇬🇧💕🇺🇲🎵🎼🦉🇬🇧

It was during the filming of this picture that the Academy Awards for 1944 were held. That night Leo McCary and Bing Crosby won for "Going My Way" and Ingrid Bergman had won for "Gaslight". The following morning on the set Bergman joked that she was happy to have won the night before because she would have been nervous without one, what with her director and co-star both having one of their own.
