i thought the same! like, damn! i never got so deep when i played it back in the day, but that might be my old laptops fault. if there were more than 5 enemys it became slow-mo-mode also, has the rebirth more items than the original? i rarely got so many especially in early levels

He was presumably playing on easy, and I believe that until the first time you beat mom, you get stronger items (he got 20/20 twice, i haven't had that in probably 100 runs)

RizenST After you beat Mom a specific amount of times, the game gets harder. Also, items are specific to the run you ended up on. Hope this helps clarify your luck when it comes to getting 20/20 :)

So, a few tips! Each floor has one "item room", which are the rooms with golden doorways. They will contain a new item that'll upgrade you in one way or another. The dark room with spikes in the centre is called a sacrifice room, and hurting yourself on the spikes gives you goodies. The devil room that appeared that one time after a boss was a "devil deal room" where you can exchange heart containers for strong upgrades to yourself. However, in order to get one you have to not be dealt any damage to your red health, so using blue or black hearts to protect your red hearts is important. Note that this doesn't happen on the first floor. The shop can actually be upgraded if you donate enough money to them, making it so there's a wider selection of items available for purchase. The room that hurt to enter usually has either black hearts, red chests or just enemies in it, so entering is risky, but the red chests can have some really good items in them.

There can be two item rooms with curse of the labyrinth in play. Also you can get a devil deal on the first floor with curse of the labyrinth again, a Joker card or Goat's Head. Good advice still.

No probs. I can't recall if Goat's Head will give a guaranteed devil deal on the 1st floor without other items (Duality/Eucharist which would likely require a broken shop with Restock and Chaos) or if it only works on floors where a devil deal has a chance of naturally spawning. Joker and the Labyrinth curse definitely do give a devil deal though XD

This gives me hope, if Kevin can play a game once in his life without it going horribly we can do anything! Thanks Kevin

Tbh if you know what items are good (and make you super overpowered in combination), what items to avoid (looking at you, Tiny Planet) and have a good strategy for the bosses it's not super hard.

Hi Kevin, I'm so glad you've played Isaac! It's one of my all time favorite games. A couple of quick tips for if you decide to play Isaac again: 1) You can break apart rocks by placing a bomb near them. Blowing up a rock near a gap in the floor will create a bridge over that gap that you can walk across to get items 2) The devil room will offer you a kind of "deal with the devil" where you can trade red heart containers for items, some of which are very good. These rooms have a much higher chance of spawning if you don't take any red heart damage on a level 3) Placing coins in the donation machine in the shop will upgrade the shop so you have better choices Hope this helps and I hope you continue to play the Binding of Isaac!

0:55 walking on those spikes specifically is a legit strat with more health.it's called the sacrafice room, andif you do it more it starts paying out, then it spawns 2 angels in succession, Uriel and Gabriel, which drop keypieces required to beat one of the final bosses, before plunking you directly before that bosses door. I accually got my first (and until like a month ago only) kill of that boss through that. This game's so fun to learn

Would definitely watch a few more of these! Interesting to see you discover everything for the first time

0:46 Uuhm, AcCuAlLy, there are two secret rooms on every floor, the regular one (white questionmark on the map) is more likely to appear surrounded by a lot of rooms, so if there's 3 rooms around an empty spot it's propably there, and the super secret room (greyed out questionmark) appears near the boss room but never directly adjacant to it and connected to only one room (maybe it can be 2 but I don't think so).
