It's been 25 years of Swahili Hip Hop, the originators of the genre in Kenya re-group on ‘Binadamu’, a single from the new material being released by Kalamashaka.
Kunta’s gritty drums on the meticulously sampled Persuaders' ‘Were Just Trying To Make it‘ excavates the emotions and Roba plays to that when he says "...najua niko na demons mob/ lakini God hutuma angels more..."
Kama, Roba and Johnny keep it real leveraging their talents and passion to champion the arts, spotlight humanitarian issues and advance justice.
In the three verses, Kshaka demonstrate they are the voice for street wisdom and insight.
Kama contributes to what's in the common talk but wonders why it's always about politicians "...na hizo debates za wanasiasa zinashukisha handas acheni ziishe..."
Roba does re-emphasize the influence of the group on Kenya's HipHop sphere "...Me ni beacon of hope bro the voice of the people/ka ni freedom niliwapa kama Biko...”
Johnny Vigeti's double entendre "...watoto watakula nini kama hujikazi...’" sums up the phenomenal work that Hip Hop heads are bound to nod their heads to.

Growing up in dandora phase 2 I Used to match mau mau camp in the hood. This is the thing back then dandora was for reggae hiphop ilikuwa ya mababi and even kalamashaka the greatest to ever do it had to win fans way before they even got understood in the hood. 25yrs on and still the best export from Dando. Nigeria knows. Ras Kimono felt that pressure. Tuzidi kufanya mambo!!
