Very good film Wayne and really important with the increasing temperature and sun exposure world wide. I fish from flats skiffs and sometimes offshore boats and I'm covered from head to foot in protective clothing and total sun block. Many day trippers don't realise how exposed they are out on the water. Skin cancer is no joke.....trust me I know. P.S missed the cool music on this one, lets have it back.

There is another option, and especially on smaller fishing boats like your 12’ aluminum boat. And that is a typical beach umbrella with a support attached to your seat. It can be made from p v c pipe or aluminum pipe. Mine is made from aluminum with a flat pc welded on the back for securing to the seat. There is nothing in the way of casting etc. make sure to tie it down with a small diameter cord or you will lose it. I never use my bimmini when fishing for the reasons you cited. But on my 14’ jon boat im never without the umbrella here in Florida. I use a 6’ diameter umbrella using only 2 sections of the aluminum pole which keeps it closer to my head. Its very easy to install and remove and store in my pickup at the launch ramp. It can also be collapsed if necessary during high wind or moving at fast rates of speed or completely removed in seconds and placed on the deck. It pays to buy one of better quality, as they will last much longer. There are lots of them on Ebay.

Do you have any tips for extending the rear of the bimini top to cover the flat of the engine compartment when at moorning or at anchor? Perhaps something to zip into the existing infrastructure and tie down at the stern? We have a similiar boat to your FourWinds and want to make this rear space more usable -

I don’t think this one mounted to the frame at all - but yes, I would use stainless self tapping.

Hi, do you know what bimini top is currently on your boat? It looks like the amazon link is a different one. I am looking for a top that has aluminum bars in the back to hold it up while still being folded away

I am new to boating and have a 4 bow bimini that came with my boat. The canvas however, did not come with it. I measured for a replacement canvas and purchased for the 4 bow bimini, but I have a huge sag in the middle of extra canvas. There is no option in a 4 bow for the actual length of canvas I need, so should I purchase a canvas for a 3 bow bimini, and stow one of the middle bows, or just but a whole new frame? What suggestions do you have?

If your hardware is in really good shape, and you plan to keep the boat a while, maybe see if a local upholstery shop can custom make a canvas that fits right. It might not be too expensive.

What is the height of your top right now for the boat on this video? 45 inch height? Or 35 inch ?

I have a war eagle and it has rails or tracks on both sides of the boat. Do they have hardware for this?

We have a wr eagle. Ours is installed on top, not in the tracks.

Hello, thanks for this video!!! Perfect timing as my wife and I just bought a new boat this year. Is it possible you can share your knowledge with us on maybe some higher end manufacturers of bimini tops. They all seem to be cheap china made when searching on Google.

It’s really hard finding certain after-market products that are made domestically. I think there’s some companies who actually make them in areas like Florida and markets with bigger boating communities.

I need a new bimini top for my 21' cuddy cabin boat and I'm a little confused about how the dimensions should be measured. I would like the same size and style that I currently have. Which measurements and how should I best measure my current top to make sure the one I order will be the same size?

Measure across from the widest spot and then measure the canvas when it's open front to back and that should give you what you need.

My Four Winns was a 23.5 foot

Binimi's are useless when the sun is low and comes in straight underneath it.May as well not have one in that situation.I'm a fisherman and have a canopy on my boat that s pretty much as useless as a bimini when it comes to fishing. It's a wide breamed hat and long sleeves in the hot Australian weather for me.
