We have been getting a lot of request for more install videos. Today we installed 5100 seriesBilstein adjustable shocks on this beautiful Tundra. Many people start with this upgrade as it is very cost effective and gives the truck a slight lift and better ride. For this install a couple things to keep in mind, you will need a spacer/block for the rear to level the back with the front. The front we set to the highest setting to give the truck the most lift and in the back we added a 1" block to level the truck out. depending on the weight you are carrying in the back you might have to go to a 2" block or better yet upgrade leaf pack. In this scenario this truck only required a 1" block to perfectly level it out . Thanks again for your support and feel free to ask away with any questions, as we try to make these videos a simple and self explanatory as possible.

Awesome video! I like that you guys leave in the difficult parts and not cut them out. This is what we needed.

It’s all part of the adventure
If you live in the rust belt treat those 3 studs on the top of the shock several times before removing them. The sand and salt sit on that cap and then the nut stick and it is very challenging to cut those off. I just did a Tundra and the back stud on both sides had to be cut.
It says a lot about a KZread channel that throughly comments back on questions pertaining to the video. Curiosity brought me here about whether I want to lift my truck, if I do I know a reliable channel now. Thank you, good quality is hard to find these days.

Great video. I installed 5100 for my f250 6.2 . What is the hex hole on top of front shocks for . I was turning that instead of the nut. Then I noticed a guy just turning the nut on YT . Did I screw up my shock. Instructions weren't that great. Look forward to your answer. Thanks

Great looking stance . Looking for a Good suspension for my 2020 tundra 1794 . These level it out nicely without having to add to much just a couple U-bolts a small block and shim and your off . I was hoping he would of measured the lean on the driver side after the shim installed but it looks pretty level on video. That lean drives my crazy so I was very interested in the result (or maybe I missed it) either way . Great vid . Definitely going to reference this vid with my suspicion upgrade. Subbed thanks 👍🏻

Thanks man. The lean isn’t to much of a deal but the shim levels it out nicely. Only you will ever notice the lean but it’s suppose to help with alignment however you think they would of came even from factory.
This may not be an easy question to answer but I need to get my Fox 2.0 rebuilt. Do y’all think the eibach spring will work with the 5100? I dont have the oem setup anymore

Yo my go to answer guy, so I installed the Bilstein 5100 with a 1" block in the rear, question is, do I need a front dif drop kit to drop the front differential, will it harm my cv axle without it? I drove the truck for 3.5months and it worn off the driver's side needle bearing, only wear I see on the axle is the race worn from the needle bearing, and so I replaced it with a ECGS bearing, ran smooth now. But again, will I still need to drif drop? Have you drop yours?

Did you do the highest setting on the front? Some people do it but unless you are going 3inches or higher it’s not necessary. I personally didn’t do it till I went higher now I’m at about 4” in lift with the king coilovers and def needed

Great video. Due to its length, however, I think there's some information I need to be clarified. If I didn't measure prior to the removal of the suspension, should I add that 0.5" spacer on the driver's side? Also, are the rear blocks necessary for a correct level with the max setting here? I have air bags on the rear of my truck as well, though that is somewhat irrelevant. Appreciate all the information y'all have shared, though. I was a little surprised when the shocks didn't come with even a one page manual about part order which is what brought me here.
@overlandtundras
Жыл бұрын
So we found that after measuring and reading forums the tundra does have the driver lean and if you really want it perfect then the shim is recommended. You won’t notice it without to be honest. In the rear if you will need the shim if you are wanting the maximum height and go the max setting in the front.
@TheeFlyingK
Жыл бұрын
@@overlandtundras I appreciate you taking the time to respond. So what I’m hearing is add the DS shim as it’s a very common attribute of the Tundras and add 1” blocks to the rear if using the 5100s on top setting. My tundra had 1.75” front shock spacers on it from the previous owner but I never knew it to be out of level so that’s why I was a bit shocked when I saw needing blocks for the rear. The measurements from each seemed like it should be a direct replacement😅…though another 1” in the rear isn’t a problem either. Just trying to get the facts straight. What about control arms? Worth changing UCAs to tubular for more alignment adjustment?
@overlandtundras
Жыл бұрын
@@TheeFlyingK you are welcome and it also depends on conditions of springs and leafs. Some people have an older truck that they tow a lot and very worn leafs where they need more than a block in the rear I personally have done icon leaf stage 3 for all the weight in the bed But if all the components are good then with those shocks, springs, and spacer you will be golden As far as uca you aren’t going high enough to need to upgrade. However it will not hurt.
@TheeFlyingK
Жыл бұрын
@@overlandtundras I did replace the front springs as the lower portions were starting to show their age. I'll keep the icon leafs in mind for the future, but I'd probably just block for now. I do pull a 4k lbs boat frequently, but that's about the extent of it. I just saw some UCAs for a similar price to OEM so that had me wondering. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that aftermarket UCAs won't be as reliable as OEM. Am I fair to say that or am I wrong?
