I know billy swan because my dad was playing with the 8 track tapes. Then again im 28. I own a car that still has a 8 track player and it gets used still today. And i have billy swan 8 tracks too. Lol

@@kellysikula Chevy celebrity. For a short time you could order a electronically tuned stereo with 8 track for such vehicle. Took a while to locate one of those specific radios. They came out very late basically when 8 track was headed out the door so not many were ordered

Fantastic! You can't get much better than this rendition. I am sorry I have not heard Billy Swan's "Don't Be Cruel" before.

Heard this on "For all Mankind" TV show and fell in love with it too - I'll give a try to the whole album, sounds to worth it... (beside the classical "I can help")

More soulful then the original.

I like his version but it doesn't compare to Elvis' version in my opinion. It might be better not to compare the two versions. Enjoy each one in their own right.

Billy tears it up on this version. I swear if i woulda known about this before hesring it on for all mankind, it wouldve been ny wedding song. This is one of those songs that you feel in your bones... Every word feels like i could have wrote it myself because of the way he sings it... A quiet and calm masterpiece

No challenger explosion, A base on the Moon and Mars. Electric cars are more main stream. Video calls being a thing since like the 80's. I concur.

It's pretty tough to do a song justice after it's had "The King" put his signature on it. But darn-it, Billy Swan takes it to a whole new level and makes it his own. And, that's not easy. Love me some Billy Swan. Saw him playing the Showroom at ""High Sierra" Hotel/Casino, South Shore Lake Tahoe back in 1984, while Eddie Rabbit was The Headliner at the Beautiful Harrah's. Also at S.S. Lake Tahoe. For sure, very different times, but they were fun times.
