I didn’t think anything would ever catch my attention and intrigue me like the Bands I grew up listening to and the bands I’ve seen over the past thirty years. Im a guitarist myself and have been since I was around 10ish. Always had extremely high aspiration and ambition regarding where my goal to end would be skill wise. And I find myself able to relate to him and his music so well as I lost a great many years to opioid/heroin/fentanyl addiction mainly but also along with many many other drugs as well. I'm only ok with responsible use of cannabis and psychedelics anymore. Exactly the same way he is now apparently I learned. I've picked the guitar back up and played ever since the very first second I was gifted a used Ibanez electric from a church friend, as I lost my 08 Gibson Les Paul studio all mahogany no finish and Taylor 314ce to my addiction. I'm 3 years sober this spring. Believe me, I'm DEFINITELY taking notes. I don't just listen to the music but I also have been watching him very intently, learning and absorbing it all as I watch. I loved the rig rundown video of him breaking his setup down and explaining it. He's also has very high attention to detail and consistent/picky with his playing guitar also exactly like myself. It's been very fun and interesting nonetheless.

One of the most exciting players, not only these days. Has got everything down from bluegrass to Hendrix, Garcia, Allman and back to Dylan or Jackson Browne. Blessed with tremendous gift.

Billy Strings is the truest musical heir to Jerry I have ever seen. It's a combination of both the playing and, especially, the singing. I enjoy Kadlecik, Mayer, Haynes, and Herring. I think they all are talented and "get it" to a significant extent. But this guy has the "it" factor.

Billy's vocals, guitar, band, and arrangements are all bona fide "Bluegrass." The "it" factor is that he is so talented and expressive in the same way Jerry was. His top-notch bandmates improvise creatively and comp so tightly! I've seen him bring it on electric with Billy and the Kids! I'm so glad Billy is getting this exposure and fame!

Had the pleasure of finally catching him live last Fall at their first Philly night. He is the most brilliant entertainer I have ever witnessed. His playing and singing are utterly outstanding, as are his all-around presence, humor, and charisma. I left that show knowing I will be seeing Billy Strings live every chance that I get to for the rest of my days.

Just saw him first time ever last night in Vegas. Blown away. What else would you consider best you've heard since Jerry passed?

The name "Billy Strings" is the perfect fit! He can play anything, with anyone while respecting the original artist, but also transforming these iconic songs into a whole new version of his own! There are not many musicians alive or dead that have been able to do this! 🔥💯❤️☮️

He’s the prince of another generation He can do anything if he wants I’m impressed that he covers bands with such respect

50 Years to the day of my all time favorite Loser performed by the Dead at the Hollywood Palladium. August 6th, 1971! Check it out. Billy Strings is just as incredible. Keep on rocking Billy!!

Billy and his bandmates seem to be turning into the "Grateful Dead" of the Bluegrass world, that's a good thing. Billy and his posse are good representatives of the current crop of young acoustic musicians whom we are blessed to have on the music scene these days. They are carrying on an American music tradition that goes back many generations. Beautiful mando solo.

billys phrasing on the songs melody during his solo is simply phenomenal. billy is a confident player and that makes him an exceptionally great player imo. i have always felt in the short time i have been checking out billy that i constantly finding myself praising billys guitar phrasing. he is great, and wow im not sure who that is on the mandolin but he is pretty awesome and the tight clean tone is good too

Man, Billys solos are freaking awesome but that mandolin solo was spiritual. He transcended in that moment. It made me feel all fuzzy and warm.

That mandolin solo is dead on, no pun intended.

His vocals are fantastic and crisp with country twang, diggin it!! That mandolin is straight up beautiful. Billy did this classic justice.

Amazing talent with width, breadth, and depth. Billy Strings and his band are stellar. I am so happy and thankful they are on earth.

My favorite Dead tune performed masterfully by one of my favorite contemporary artists. Billy gives me peace. Cheers!

Nice work. One of the best Jerry/Bob Hunter compositions -- a beautiful scary western epic, rivals Johnny Cash in the writing dept.

This performance is close to perfection. It is beautiful if a sad topic.

I love the space that Billy uses in his phrasing when he pays homage to Jerry. I feel like Jerry would love to see this. It is almost like seeing what would have happened if Jerry were a fiery, acoustic flatpicking virtuoso before moving to the style of music that he and the Dead made.

You might want to replay dead on the rocks from July 13 this year, or maybe Grateful Mahalo if you think us old deadheads are set in our ways. This old deadhead will be at Billy's album release in Buena Vista Colorado in September for 2 nights of Strings and camping. You youngsters better stay home and let us veterans do this right .

I was at Dead and Co finally show in SF .... Jerry paved the way ...

Saw him a few weeks ago in Marshfield ma... I could see him a thousand times and still miss something AMAZING like this. Life is short but his music makes it sweet. He even has me picking now 🎸👆
