About BILLY STRINGS:
Michigan-born and now Nashville-based, Billy Strings is a GRAMMY Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician, who arrived on the scene as “one of string music’s most dynamic young stars” (Rolling Stone). Strings is in the midst of a triumphant year after winning Best Bluegrass Album at the 63rd GRAMMY Awards for his critically acclaimed record, Home. Produced by Glenn Brown, the record also led Strings to top Billboard’s 2020 year-end charts in both Bluegrass categories-Top Bluegrass Artists and Top Bluegrass Albums-and continues to receive widespread critical acclaim. Of the release, The Associated Press proclaims, “it is his creative musical storytelling, paired with solid vocals on Home that should seal the deal, pleasing fans of the genre and creating some new ones…the perfect blend of pure talent and pluck,” while The Wall Street Journal declares, “Billy Strings has clearly emerged as a premier guitar flatpicker of this era.” Since his debut, Strings has been awarded Guitar Player of the Year and New Artist of the Year at the 2019 International Bluegrass Music Awards, selected as one of Rolling Stone’s “New Country Artists to Know” and performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and PBS’ “Bluegrass Underground.” Known for his electric live shows, Strings will continue his extensive headline tour throughout 2021 including upcoming shows in Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Denver, Austin, Atlanta and Nashville among several others.
Out September 24 via Rounder Records (pre-order here), Renewal was produced by Jonathan Wilson (Conor Oberst, Roger Waters, Father John Misty) and solidifies Strings’ position as a singular artist-one who honors the history of the music that inspires him, while continually pushing it forward. With the record’s sixteen tracks, Strings shares a more personal and honest perspective through his songwriting, while incorporating his wide range of influences with elements of bluegrass, classic rock, metal, psychedelic music and more.
LYRICS
(APOSTOL / HOFFMAN)
So in the morning when I see her in the light
She comes through to me in any kind of weather
And I know I'll never see a brighter day
When she smiles with her eyes
And even with a clouded heart chocked full of doubt
She can sing away the worry of rejection
She’s a wonder to behold
I'll love her till I'm growing old and that’s the plan
But if I could find more, that’s worthy
I surrender it all
I’m not sure that I deserve the love that I receive
But I give it all to her
Captivating when she moves across the floor
I remembered what it is I came here for
And it seems so easy now
I can’t believe it but somehow I’ve made her mine
Every now and then the past will ring a bell
But I’m not looking back I'm only moving forward
If I knew then what I know now I wouldn't be
here anyhow and it’s been clear
But if I could find more, that’s worthy
I surrender it all
I’m not sure that I deserve the love that I receive
But I give it all to her
So if I come to some conclusion by tonight
I'll be free from all the sorrow I've been drinking
I swear I'll never let her down
I couldn't bare to hear the sound of her steps leaving
And in the evening when the sun is running low
I’ll walk bravely through the fields of burning ember
and I’ll remember everything she said to me when
our love was first in bloom
But if I could find more, that’s worthy
I surrender it all
All the praise that I could earn
Means nothing without hers
I’m not sure that I deserve all the love that I receive
But I give it all to her

My wife died of cancer on our 12th anniversary in May 2022. This song deeply expresses so many of my emotions. Things I don’t even know how to express. Especially captures the gratitude I have for 12 years with my soul mate. Thank you, Billy.

@Infamous Grizzly I've heard that said, but as far as I can tell, Billy has been very clear about where the 33 comes from. His Grandpa was a race car driver and his car's number was 33. Just saw recently that Billy now sponsors an IMCA modified car. Seems anyone with even an ounce of fame needs to find one of the 4 possible numbers that don't somehow align them with Freemasonry, to appease the "everyone is a Freemason" cult.

saw him play this at the mission in Colorado on Sunday. Never cried that hard to a song before. The line "not sure if i deserve, all the love that I receive, so i give it all to her" was what got me. I think alot of people can relate to this feeling of receiving unlimited love from everyone around you and feeling guilty about the past. Wondering if you deserve any of this love, because of wrongdoings in the past. When it just becomes too much, you just need to give it away. I think everyone deserves a second chance, at life, at love, and at friendship. You can always change the person you are. Nothing is ever permanent. Each and every moment is different from the last. Its called a renewal and thats what its all about. Thank you Billy for this masterpiece!

I had the same reaction as you did. I was shocked at Billy's vulnerability. Bluegrass definitely has a heartbreak component to it, but this had such a depth, the sharing of innermost feelings of love and fears of rejection. Those feelings of, "Am I enough?" And paired with such divine music. I'm actually just kind of stunned right now.

Maybe even more so because it's out of my ordinary. As a gay woman I was delighted to see people like me in the video. I found myself relating to all of the couples in different ways and it was a beautiful experience. Looks like you're coming to my city pretty soon, that's really cool!!! This song is such a gem. Capital Theater, Deja Vu Experiment, 2/18/21 was my 1st listen of it. I knew immediately that true admiration and love created the moment that inspired the song. Billy’s talent brought it to life. So grateful for this young man, his band, and his music. The live shows are amazing and this album is what the world needs NOW. 🐐🤘🔥 9/24/21 can’t come soon enough.

Bless his pure talent, determination and raw courage. He pushes everything is the absolute best of ways. A hard- earned fearlessness he shares with fire and grace. I'm 53 year old punk/metal head, grew up in LA, saw and loved all music from the ♡. When I stumbled across the first post of Dust in a Baggie a while back i knew this kid had just unlocked a secret passage between hardcore metal and blistering flat picking bluegrass. And then Turmoil and Tinfoil confirmed he was driving the perfect Hellbound Hayride. Check the Grand Old Opry performance. He annihilated convention, frustrated the old folks, ultimately blew their minds. And now the lad has a Grammy. Life isn't all shit yet. Keep going Billy, the world really needs your mojo. No pressure. ♡☆♡

So in the morning when I see her in the light She comes through to me in any kind of weather And I know I'll never see a brighter day When she smiles with her eyes And even with a clouded heart chocked full of doubt She can sing away the worry of rejection She's a wonder to behold I'll love her till I'm growing old and that's the plan But if I could find more, that's worthy I surrender it all I'm not sure that I deserve the love that I receive But I give it all to her Captivating when she moves across the floor I remembered what it is I came here for And it seems so easy now I can't believe it but somehow I've made her mine Every now and then the past will ring a bell But I'm not looking back I'm only moving forward If I knew then what I know now I wouldn't be Here anyhow and it's been clear But if I could find more, that's worthy I surrender it all I'm not sure that I deserve the love that I receive But I give it all to her So if I come to some conclusion by tonight I'll be free from all the sorrow I've been drinking I swear I'll never let her down I couldn't bare to hear the sound of her steps leaving And in the evening when the sun is running low I'll walk bravely through the fields of burning ember And I'll remember everything she said to me when Our love was first in bloom But if I could find more, that's worthy I surrender it all All the praise that I could earn Means nothing without hers I'm not sure that I deserve all the love that I receive But I give it all to her
