After all these years, he's still got it--that wonderful voice.
Even in his later years he still had it. Great performance at the end.
Damn! What a voice. Pure smoke and silk.
In 74’ I was a freshman in high school. Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. When this song hit the radio I was just awestruck at it’s beauty. Such an amazing voice, lyrically impressive, and oh the amount of soul it had. Being a skinny ass white kid from Orange, California, my world my box was SoCal. Why this song reached me I don’t know. I’ve never been the same since and thank the heavens for Billy Paul and this effort.

I went to a Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes concert back in 93/94, support by Eddie Holman. Up in the balcony was Billy Paul, he wasn't on the bill but everyone cheered, stomped, clapped for him to come down and sing, which he duly did. Of course it was probably all planned but it was a magical moment and an added bonus that I will never forget.

Such a great song...definitely one of my favs.
Oh man how much did my mother LOVE this song....she was dating a Mr. Jones, that was their theme song. She played that song until the record no longer had grooves in it to play. She then bought a DVD of the song. Every time I hear that song, I think of my mother who's been passed for over 10 yrs. R.I.P. Mama.

Awesome Song...Awesome voice...Awesome man! Billy Paul. RIP ♡
Saw Billy Paul in Halifax UK - he looked poorly he had cancer - But it didn' t affect his voice - that poor guy stood on the stage doing what he loved ! - He only sang just " me and mrs Jones " pitch perfectly - He was helped onto the stage & helped off - But while he was there singing there was nothing wrong ! - I managed to get billys autograph that night & I ''ll never forget that big beaming smile of his & how courtious he was ? It was a few month later a saturday if I remember rightly -It was announced on the news Billy had died only a small piece before the weather ! -I could not believe that for such a great singer ! -I went upstairs & Played a couple of his albums that night before I turned in ! We had lost anothe great soul star from an era that will never be replaced Billy Paul R.I.P.

Wow. Were losing all these great legends. Songs like this touched your soul and heart. The artests singing to this great music had great meaning and feelings to it. When a man could'nt express himself of how he felt through his own words to a woman. He expressed himself through love songs. Beautiful stuff.

Just love that Philly sound. So many great songs.
Rest in peace, Sir Billy Paul! Thanks for the music. Yes Mr and Mrs Jones still sounds good even today. One of the icon songs ever sang.
A smile appears on my face every time I hear this . My grandma rebuked for belting out this song one day while we were working in backyard I was only about 13 years then. It was many years after I got the meaning. “Bernice “ bless her.
The perfect bookend songs: While nursing a stiff drink, play this track & follow-up with another Philly classic of the same theme- the Manhattans classic "I Wish That You Were Mine".
Let me share a little info on this classic hit. It was written by Cary Gilbert , Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. Arrange by Bobby Martin. Released September 13, 1972. According to a interview that Gamble and Huff gave, they stated that the idea of the song came from a eating place they frequently went to. It was downstairs from where they wrote/recorded some demos. They notice that a man and a woman would seem to meat each other there every day at the same time. Have a bite to eat and just talk. Before you know it, they would both get up in leave, going in 2 different directions, and do the same thing again the very next day. And so there you have it, that is how the song "Me and Mrs. Jones" song was born.

I also love "Thanks for saving my life"..Billy Paul OG from Philly
I remember when I first heard this song near December of '73. It was near Christmas, and albeit that I didn't know necessarily what the song was about, I thought the song was very melodic, good vocals, and somehow, it just lent itself pretty well with the holiday season at that time. This is STILL one of my all-time favorite songs.
These were my teenage years and I'm so glad to have been a part of it !
Another memory was in my friends dad's station wagon listening to Simon and Garfunkel on an 8 track. Lol. He always seemed to be listening to that.
