Fun fact Billy Ocean wrote this for Hall and Oates but at the time they declined it but that was actually a good thing because Billy Ocean got his name out there by singing it himself

It was optimistic energized with electric dreams and lots of fun. People were a lot less uptight. Not to say there were no problems, we had many but for the most part. I believe people were just better at handling things at that time period.

I miss it too and you're right about the 80's spirit. It was a different time, but a great time! I hated the 70's (I graduated high school in 1974), but I loved the 80's. I think it was the best decade of my life!

34 years 3 months later Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car, is proof we 80s people had the greatest soundtrack in music history!!

I ran my own mobile Disco from 1986 to 1993........so many requests for great dance tunes from the 70's to the 90's but never enough time to play them over 4 or 5 hours in an evening ? Still got HALF of my vinyl collection. Would STILL play them for a one off Disco today. What a time to be a DJ !!

My Dad and I used to play this and when it came on the radio would blast it. If it was just us, blast it and windows open. Today, it's your birthday Dad. I miss and love you. Thinking of you today and forever and.

I'm sorry he's no longer with you. My dad passed away four years after this song came out. In his later years he started to like rock and roll & R & B even though he was in his 50s by then. He always appreciated the hard work behind it all.

Same here friend. Was born in 92 but the last 5-10 years I ahve really developed and appreciation for 80s music. Billy Ocean was one of my first 80s loves. A gateway 80s musician for me I guess you would say. Lol. The upbeat and fun thing is so true and opposed to the irreverance and angst of the 90s

Growing up, I found it really weird that people who listen to heavy-metal, punk, hard rock, etc like me loved 80s Pop music. That doesn’t even make sense, but I am so here for it. I remember begging my parents to get me an absolutely 80s box set on TV for Christmas. It was funny because my mom was like, didn’t you get Metallica last year? I told her 80s doesn’t count lol . I got it, and I had one of those 100 disc CD players (remember those, OMG), I put all 20 CDs in that, and just played it on repeat before I went to sleep every night. I was listening to metal by day, and 80s by night dancing with my friends. This song brings back so many amazing memories. It reminds me that I really have not had a bad life. I do think I got kind of shitty hand, but overall, my life was all right.

One of the best songs of the 80s. So well done.

God I was so lucky to live the 80's. The music, the videos, the girls, the crazy fashions at times and those boomboxes. Hell yeah I want to go back.

Prime Day 2022 commercial brought me here lol. I hear the song all the time at work, but after seeing the commercial, I had to see the real deal.

My beautiful mother passed away just over a week ago. Once she could no longer speak I started playing her favourite music from the 80s and 90s. When Billy came on my mom could not really speak anymore but she managed to do a small shoulder shake and say "Ocean...". Will never look at this man the same way again 😢😂❤

Never will I forget watching the 1988 Greg Beeman film 'License to Drive' at a cinema whilst on holiday in Michigan nearly thirty-six years ago. I even like to watch the film - 'Papá Cadillac' - dubbed in Castilian Spanish (Spain) through a Russian bootleg video streaming site.

I was in my early 30s when this tune dropped, but I never paid much attention to it. I thought the title was too long and the point too obvious. When it played on the radio, I always seemed to just catch the tail end of it. Now...today....I can't stop playing it! Today alone I played it at least 7 times! Thanks!

Like I said, when I want to go to another world I put on my ear phones turn the volume up and go to a place where there is no sickness, no government no judgement and no one can't touch me. It's a place where nothing can touch me and I have the best sleep I could ever ask for. I can face the next day with a great song in my heart and mind. Happy New Year.

I was 20 in 80 and a musician and your exactly right! That Decade blew me away after Eddie Van Jsken brought so much attention to the music world. and killed the disco era in 78. Then the z80s exloded with tons of music

This song came out when I was in high school. It's so awesome. This song will never get old!🎉

When I asked my sister what she'd like for her birthday, she said "a parody of a song from one of the movies we grew up with." So I picked this song (from License to Drive) with a housecleaning theme, to start with "Hey! You! Get into my garbage!" Lol 😂

His songs are so fun….his timing and Harmony is perfect. Crazy how everyone from this era was not just killing it but their talent levels were through the roof. 80s & 90s truly the last great decades for every genre of music.

Hey don't forget the 70s that's the year it all started and thatsthe year that my family came to NZ from our motherland of 🇼🇸 Samoa back in 1974 and that's why I love the 70s80s 90s music so much ❤😊😊and I was only 13 years old then especially the70s😂 I'm 62 now and still listening to these music and loving it ❤❤ GB everyone 😅😅❤❤

The best thing about Covid was that I got to dig up all my old music and play them. Brought back so many fond memories. Thank you Xi.
