Some of you have never been to a Billy Joel New Years Concert before he cleaned up. He was singing Big Shot and running around the stage and tried to jump over Marc Rivera while he was playing the piano. Didn’t work out too well as they collided heads and fell to the floor laughing. Ah the good old days.He still sounded amazing the whole show. He’s not a legend. He’s a god.

Don't like how he has treated Liberty.

When I first got my copy of the CD of the concert I was pissed that they left off Piano Man. Watching this now, I can totally see why

10/10, not gonna lie, would pay top dollar for a perfomance like this. It was the last song of a three hour-concert, good for him he was really having fun here. 😁😁😁

July 4th, 1999, a buddy and I talked about going to NYC for 2000 NYE (we're in college in MN). We book our flights by end of the summer and then word comes Billy is doing this show. I dropped $250 for 4 rows behind the stage. I was too naive to know how drunk he was... just thought he was really enjoying himself.. haha. My buddy didn't feel like spending that, was out in Times SQ. Let's just say meeting up afterwards without cell phones at 2 a.m. was a trick. It's great finding these videos.. felt like I was at the best Billy show ever.

I always wondered why piano man never made the album... and now I know why. Still, this is the fun of live concerts. I don't think this addition would have hurt the album.

I wonder when it dawned on the director, the camera people and the rest of the video crew... "OMG this will never be aired anywhere."

Not gonna lie, I've been this blackout drunk on a stage before. It wasn't for more than maybe 50 people, but.... It hits hard the next day. LMAO

I think I heard an interview somewhere that Joel had planned to retire from concerts after this one. I think it was something about not wanting to be a 50 year old rock n roller. Obviously he changed his mind!! It seems that he changed his mind during this very song!!! Imagine how he must feel thinking that he's singing "piano man" for an audience for the last time. The way he is looking around to take it all in, lingering, not wanting to leave the stage!

If he were to stay in NYS, I would bet that he would try to sneak into the music room at Hicksvlile High and teach a class undercover every other Thursday! LoL 🎶🎵 I also think that he has been working on a lot of music that he just hasn't released. I think he will let his daughters decide what to do with it. We may hear some more music one day... 🎶🗽🎵

Billy Joel shows used to be so much fun from then Storm Front period when I started going to them, up until they became the stadium spectacles they are now. They’re still good, but something gets lost in the vastness of a stadium. He had such a good interaction with the audience and it was different every show. One time during his interdictions of the band members he said “Mark Rivera on saxophone, skin flute and whatever else he plays up here. He messes up the words to scenes from an Italian Restaurant and Liberty called him out on it. Billy said it’s my songs I’ll sing it however I want! He may have been drunk. I didn’t care, it was funny.

Per Piano Man la musica un gioco facile ....

It had to be going through his head; "This is the last time I'll be singing this song in this Century..." Naw, that's rubbish...he was just having a drunken blast...I mean, it was THE END OF A MILLENNIUM! The fans, the band, lighting guys...all coked and boozed up proper-- as it should be. But I bet on "I've Loved These Days" it had to be, what, BUSY inside his head. No one knew if the lights were gonna come back on, seems silly now, when the lights really ARE about to go off!

Liberty De Vito talks about it in his book. It actually led to a postponement of the tour for a couple of months because he blew his voice out at this gig from overcompensation.
