I don't know that they were... IIRC, he wrote the verses for Squidbillies individually, and in the end they spliced them all together to make one song. I could be remembering that wrong but that's what I recall.

Not a day we don’t miss Billy Joe Shaver here in Waco. He was and still Is a legend to this day. Best damned honky tonk song writer to ever been born
