Stugotz is correct. Not sure why but the trash guys reach their hands into the trash can and grab the bags and toss them in the back of the truck. If stuff is loose and not in bags it stays in the trash can. That's how it's done in PG County, Maryland.

Hey guys, some neighborhoods, including poor ones, they don't have the claw truck. Guys grab the bags out of the cans.

I hate to say it, but... Stugotz was right?! Holy ****, Stugotz was right! In my rural Missouri town the trucks don't use a lift and if items aren't bagged they may indeed be left behind.

Where I live, Stugotz is right about the garbage can issue.

6:05 so I used to work as a garbage man in a smaller town. We had 3 guys, 1 guy driving 2 guys throwing trash. If a garbage can is dumped and there is loose stuff left on the bottom (mostly due to residuals) it stays in the can.

My parents (who live in AL) have the same trash situation 😂 I’ve always thought it’s super weird that they care about the loose stuff.

I totally had Chris’ situation - I was walking my dog in the neighborhood and he did his business and I picked up his 💩 with a dog poop bag. I’m walking around with the poop bag and wanted to put it in a neighbor’s trash can, but didn’t 😂

My neighborhood changed waste disposal vendors and the new one has three guys in a truck, a driver and two get out and get the trash can on the lift. They aren’t bothered by loose stuff though

I live in Maryland, 10 mins away from DC, and we still have 2 people on the back of garbage trucks picking up trash. That high tech truck has not made its way here yet 😂. Also, Stu was right. Today was trash day and our trash and recycle cans were mixed with my neighbors on the curb smh.

Yup three man trucks in my area now. Old vendor was the claw, current one has a driver and two dudes grabbing the trash and recycling bins

Actually, the garbage can doesn't belong to you. It belongs to the waste company, or perhaps the city. Depending on where you live, once the can is on the street the contents don't belong to you either.

Stugotz is 100% right. In North Miami, 2 guys are on the back of the garbage truck. The angle that the trash is collected, because its falling back, could leave loose items still in the garbage. They won't put it through a second time.

I live in a downtown area of a city. Sometimes we do get the automated trucks, but sometimes we do get the manual trucks, where the one guy has to get out. Some are picky what they will collect and what they won't, especially the recycling. So it does happen. Also, some of them chuck your bins in a big hurry if they are behind schedule and they can end up fairly far from the front of a house.

Stugotz is absolutely right. In my town they will not take trash that is loose and not in a bag. We actually have guys coming out of the truck to pick up the trash out of the container and this is in NJ.

Here in chucktown we have both, on smaller streets guys are on the back of the truck.

I've lived in places that have done what Stu says, they say have all items in the bin in a bag. They don't go as far to leave stuff, they will just fine you after a few warnings.

It's so weird to see everyone confused about what Stu is saying about the trash pickup. I've only ever known what he's saying here about the sanitation workers physically throwing the trash into the truck, and the part about not accepting loose trash, to be true. I've never actually seen those trucks with the mechanical claw/lift thing, ever. lol. It was surreal to hear everyone's shock.

Stu was wrongly dismissed on the garbage can take. Some sanitation companies will not take anything out of the giant bin unless it is in a garbage bag. They don't tip and dump the entire thing. They just grab the bags. Loose stuff stays. Get out of the house once in a while!

Stu was pretty clear. His trash people take the trash bags out of the can by hand. If they see trash that is not in the bag, they leave it there. He is saying that you would have to stuff the loose trash into one of the bags that are already in the can.

Stugatz is correct. It does not occur as much now because most garbage trucks strictly use the mechanical arm to empty the can. But, up until a few years ago, when they still had the two guys riding on the back of the trucks, they would hop off and reach into your container and grab the garbage. If it was not properly bagged, they would leave it. It's kind of a shame that they no longer have actual garbage men doing those jobs anymore. That's a lot of people out of work. I smell a "Back in My Day" topic. Then the video they keep showing illustrates why they would have a rule that the trash needs to be bagged. The loose trash is being flung around all over the street!
