BILLY CORGAN HAS GONE TOO FAR…

Музыка

Guitar of the Day! Billy Corgan is out of control. Four Reverend signature models for three different tunings. The 21.5" modernized electric Terz might be the most interesting one, but the new baritone Drop Z is probably the most fun. Big chuggy downtuned potential, but it's super cool baritones are getting all the love recently both in and out of the metal world.

    Reverend Guitars are outstanding in their quality and in the range of options they offer. I live about 20 minutes from where they’re made too which is just a cool local thing for me personally. No matter where they’re from though I’d still consider them to be great guitars to play. The pickups are awesome and so are the electric components inside the guitar. And their customer support just can’t be beat. I’ve got a Billy Corrigan, but my favorite Reverend is the Double Agent OG. I play that guitar every single day still. That “bass contour” knob is no gimmick either. You can really get some unique tones just by experimenting with that alone. Whenever I meet any guitar player that is smart enough to play something that’s not a Gibson or Fender, I always suggest that they give Reverend a shot. You really can’t go wrong with anything they make.

  • 5 ай бұрын

    I hope this convinces fender to bring back the subsonic guitars. People would literally go nuts over a baritone strat or tele. But not as nuts as if they released an “Adams song” version of the Tom delonge guitar with the subsonic neck. If I remember correctly he had one for the Adams song. One of their songs at least.

    Wow, do you take everything literally..!? That joke went over your head higher than a Satellite flys. If you're a young guitar player, please forgive me. Billy Corgan wasn't bad (he was born 2 days after me, at least ,lol), and basically became known for "Smashing Pumpkins"(or rather, "The Billy Corgan Band"), as he's Rich, and the others are forgotten.(..?!). He seemed more into The Art, and coming around during The Grunge scene. So many great bands who lived to play music. Soundgarden was the first I saw locally, on the "Louder Than Love" Tour. Incredible band, for real! Got to see Pearl Jam, just a few weeks after their first album. And on The East Coast, in Ithaca, NY. Local club, in 90'..?! Tickets were $5, at the door. They had a tour bus, and Eddie Vedder had a small hoopty, I guess so he could drive around, if he wanted. Many great bands came out of that scene. Real virtuoso's. And the guy involved early on, may have made the most money of any single musician from that "scene"..?! Of course, the bands made more, but more members were equally paid in those bands. Billy must have been playing only white guitars, for awhile now..?! Hence the comment/joke. Have a great one!👍💯🤘🎶

    My wife and I were ‘situated’ with Billy Corgan many years back. We didn’t fanboy out on him, we’re used to being around people that are recognised in our business, but just in general I believe in people valuing their personal space. We’d swapped pleasantries and made small talk. But after a while, something just seemed off about him. He wasn’t creepy or inappropriate. Just kind of a consistent asshole. I was pretty surprised. Thought maybe it was the whole ‘rockstar persona’ thing in play, but there were times when it was just us. We just felt uncomfortable around him. He was unnerving in a polite way. I don’t think we listened to SP again after that. Cool guitar though!

    How does a guitar come in a certain tuning? It’s not like any kind of tuning is a permanent feature of the guitar.

    This is such old news that it’s almost sad but I do wish you luck with your channel. Drop z big deal. Corgan didn’t invent anything. Never mind anything new! Good Lord… Get with the program people! I saw them live in the 90s he was so frustrated because he couldn’t sing live and it wasn’t a sound problem. It was a vocal cord problem and not physical but psychological the guy can’t do live, well enough to carry on a whole show.

    Havent tried a guitar, but played a reverend bass once and holy crap it was good. Comfy, deep, great tone, kinda gritty but beefy. If i buy another bass thats a top pick.

    Meh, if i truly wanted to go Baritone, I'd either buy one of the ESP/LTD Viper Models from the early 2000s(preferably around the yrs '02-'04), or just build one. Not a fan of these, nor of Corgan himself lol. Don't get me wrong the dude is a great player/musician that's undeniable, but his attitude as well as his ego sour everything else. He treats bandmates like garbage etc (watch docs on it) plus, never got into smashing pumpkins cept like 1-2 songs lol too whiny for me.... I'd have to agree with a few of these comments of hers too. I wouldn't want to contribute any extra funds into his account(s).. some of the other models look pretty alright

    I wonder why Music Man (with the Sterling basses) are the only outfit I'm aware of to ever pair a pickup coil with a dummy coil for a humless single-coil? Why wouldn't that work for guitars as well? Just purist snobbery, or is there an actual reason?

  • @wokeupinapanic

    @wokeupinapanic

    5 ай бұрын

    I’d never heard of it so I did a google. Folks do DIY them, but it sounds like more hassle than it’s worth; “The trouble with most dummy coil systems and stacked systems for hum cancelling is that to get enough reverse hum induced in the extra coil to cancel out the hum in the main coil, it usually needs a second coil of a comparable number of turns. Hence, in addition to the hum cancelling, we get extra resistance and inductance and this changes the tone.”

    @@wokeupinapanic Fair enough, with a bass you have a lot of output to play with and especially with a bass with a powerful preamp (Like a Music Man) you can pretty easily mitigate the negative effects.
