I do not appreciate the BILLS entertaining any thoughts that create problems for their season ticket holders. After reading the post the last people being considered here are their fans. You need to be quite wealthy to continue to entertain season tickets, or at least consider a second job.
@AntonioFerrari8

@@ricogarion as a long time Bills fan, I've felt that the franchise is going downhill lately. They used to be that fun, feel good, hometown team. But they've really lost their way. They've gotten too big for their own good, and the owners are completely exploiting the fact that it's such a die-hard fan base with a high demand for tickets. The owners' mentality is clear: "you don't like the licensing fees and jacked up prices for tickets at the new stadium? Tough shit, watch the game from home then. They're plenty of other fans with more money than you who are willing to pay whatever price we set, because everyone in Western NY is obsessed with this team." It's dumb. It's BS. And the owners claim that “every dollar that goes into the stadium (from the taxpayers) will be paid back (into the community)." I don't believe that for a second. We all know it's just a cash grab. And the real reason they didn't move to another city is clear: they knew that staying in New York would actually be their best opportunity to milk the public for every last dollar. Both from tax funding, and from subsequent years of price gouging commercial ticket sales. And sadly, the people in Western NY are so boring that they have nothing better to do than to spend every last dollar just watch this team choke year after year. And honestly, for what? They'll probably mismanage and blunder Josh Allen's whole career without ever getting him a balanced enough roster to make it to a Super Bowl. Meanwhile selling the fans and getting them to buy into the massive hype year after year, for a Super Bowl, that is never coming . . .

@@ricogarion Those tickets this article discusses are luxury box seats. The Bills have ticket prices that are among the lowest in the league. I am not (by any means) wealthy and I have had two season tickets for the past ten years. The seat licenses for those luxury boxes are of course going to be high. And yes, you will need to be wealthy to have 6-8 seats in a luxury box.

If any stadium in the NFL needs a retractable roof it is Buffalo. This topic just came up in Kansas City too. Jackson County (they own Arrowhead) voters just rejected the Chiefs' plan to upgrade grounds. People I spoke with who live there said one of the main reasons for the rejection was the Chiefs want to keep the stadium as outdoor only which makes it harder for the stadium to attract additional events such as a Final Four, etc. The Chiefs just had a game where the temperature was -10 degrees and they expected people to come to the game.

The Stadium that the Dolphins play in has never had any public funding. The original owner Joe Robbie built it himself in 1987 for $115 million. The team and the privately built stadium was sold to Wayne Huizenga (the founder of blockbuster and Autonation) Then they were sold again to Stephen Ross and he funded a $500 million renovation himself without asking for public help. When Tampa built Raymond James with part of a 1/2 cent sales tax, The Bucs did the same thing to their fans. They made them buy a Personal Seat License(PSL) just for the privilege to buy that seat over the next 10 years or so. Then you got the jacked up prices for actual game tickets. So you get a free stadium from the fans and then you screw over the fans. On top of that Tampa had to build them a state of the art(at the time) practice facility. On top of that they screwed USF football(who played home games on the field) by nickel and diming them over a bigger piece of revenue for parking, food and tickets.

that's the thing tho. Teams care more about catering to the rich people who don't give a rat's behind about the team. You know, the people who''ll go to the stadium on corporate purchased tickets, not to watch the product on the field (they often know nothing about the game or the team), but to brag about who they just fleeced out of their retirement money in some financial scheme. Teams have forgotten about their solid fan base, the one who follow the team and the game itself, who still care about both. They care more about the short-term morons who'll bring them a quick buck, not about the fan who'll bring them solid income for years, and generations. I am not an A's fan, but I know exactly what you're talking about. The A's have a very unique, passionate fan base that i haven't seen any other team have. But the owners don't care about us common folk. Maybe one day, people will see this and stop supporting the teams, by not going to ballgames or shelling out ridiculous money on jerseys or concessions. Skydome/Rogers Centre remains a white elephant that cannot pay for itself.

Hey depressed ginger, I’ve got a story that you might be interested in. It involves the arena football league and it’s new season already turning into a disaster. There was a team called the Louisiana voodoo that was supposed to play in my hometown of Lake Charles Louisiana, they announced that the team would play all of their home games at the Lake Charles event center. Then they announced about a month ago that the team would play half of their home games 45 minutes away at a rodeo arena that’s connected to a Native American owned Casino on sovereign land. Then out of nowhere last night they announce that the team would be relocating to Lafayette, Louisiana and play at the University of Lafayette’s old basketball Arena called the Blackham Colosseum. Apparently, the reason behind the out of nowhere relocation, keep in mind the season kicks off next weekend. The AFL never paid any sort of rent to the Lake Charles event Center. They were storing all of the team Equipment at a high school 30 minutes away. It’s an insane story that a lot of people should be talking about right now considering the fact that the arena football league is making a return and it’s already looking like a disaster.

Big huge difference between Buffalo's new stadium and SoFi - SoFi was NOT publically funded. Meanwhile selling the fans and getting them to buy into the massive hype year after year, for a Super Bowl, that is never coming . . .

that's the thing tho. If enough of us stop supporting them, the richie rich alone can't provide them with what they'll need to survive.

DG, its East Rutherford, NEW JERSEY! Not New York. For a guy who supposedly posts a lot about sports arenas and stadiums, you should KNOW that.
Buffalo NY is following-suit like Toronto of the late 80s, including public funding in building these ridiculous monoliths to capitalize on beloved Sports franchises. Keep in-mind Skydome cost the Toronto tax payer over $600 million to build in 1989 dollars. It was sold less than 12 years later for a little over $30 million CDN to a European brewery company. Skydome/Rogers Centre remains a white elephant that cannot pay for itself.
Absurd prices makes it seem like the owners are clueless and just picked a random number for their prices.

Welcome to New York. The whole state is overpriced because of greed. No way to have something publicly funded charging this much money.
400,000 for a suite. This is not reflective of the average seat licensce. Whoever did not see this coming is living in la la land.
You could fill a stadium with what Depressed Ginger doesn't know. Show me when the Royals and Chiefs schedule simultaneous home games, much less that's the reason for how much parking is at theTruman Sports Complex.
Public funding is capped. The pegulas are paying for overages. Public funding is approx half the original 1.4 billion.
The old stadium needs to become a national historic landmark just like the stadium built before it which was only partially demolished. The NFL needs to take historic preservation much more seriously as new stadiums save for Levi Stadium don't use the old structural and architectural designs anymore.
Just to be clear, if there's any cost overruns it'll be the owner paying for that, not the taxpayers.
Again, the parking at the Truman Sports Complex was planned under the assumption that the Royals and Chiefs would never play games at the same time (and in 50 years they never have). It would be like worrying that the Steelers and Pirates would play at old Three Rivers Stadium at the same time. Schedule makers are smarter than that.
There is no need for these new stadiums I have been a ny giant fan since 1956 the greatest games played were on grass in the rain snow and mud in Yankee stadium. The old giant stadium was perfect for football despite the turf there was no need to tear it down I went to the new stadium once and never went back the seats were so far away from the field the players looked like ants the stadium looks more like a shopping mall not a football stadium

Even in Vegas, as i understand it, its almost all 3rd party sales for individual games. The days of regular Joe's like me owning season tickets are long gone.
Big huge difference between Buffalo's new stadium and SoFi - SoFi was NOT publically funded. It is part of the reason L.A. went so long without a pro football team, as L.A. refused to spend any public money. Also, no chance of freezing to death in L.A. You know season tickets will be jacked up, and I bet the Bills will be sorry they did not go for the dome. The last football game I saw was early October 2010 at the Superdome - Saints vs. Panthers
You guys agreed to it, don’t complain. I mean, what did you expect you paid for the stadium and now the owners are sticking it to you again, playing on your loyalty and love for your team, it ain’t worth it.
Same happened to me with the Jets when they built that abomination in the swamp. My tickets went up to $750 per game and $25k PSL's for my 4 tickets in sec 111 row 2 & 3 until they added those extra 2 rows in front of us. My old tickets are now "coaches cub" tickets & I moved up to Sec 221A This will be the first season since 1980 I won't be going back... after 43 yrs as a STH I told them to shove it.

FFS your billionaires, you own the team, my team sucks right now, and they just increased prices. I'll sit at home and watch games from now on. Also the fact they are pricing the average fan out of being able to afford the license fee and then the actual ticket. It’s totally ridiculous.
These reaervation fees for season tickets usually are used to help fund the new stadium. Shame the bills still have these considering a free stadium is being handed to them with public money
People willingly pay high prices for anything and everything. So who's the dummy.???
I can understand if they renovate things like grass on the field so that players don't tear up their legs, adding a roof because winters in that area are brutal or changing the seating for a better viewing. But to use that renovation for luxury suits for some a-hole to have his expensive cocktail parties or to use it to impress some clients on a business transaction just seems like a slap to the taxpayers' faces. Also, the Bills owners need to be reminded that they can fund their own damn stadium if they want to jack up prices after begging the public to fund their new stadium.

Pegula is looking to sell a non-controlling portion of the Bills ownership (up to 25%) which I would assume is to cover some of the cost of the overruns building this stadium. Hopefully there is no clause in this agreement that allows that person to buy the rest of the team upon Pegula's passing.
