Billie Jean by Michael Jackson has one of my all-time favorite basslines. It’s played by Louis Johnson on the the 1982 album Thriller. Michael Jackson based his song Billie Jean on the song I Can’t Go for That by Hall and Oats which came out the year before.
This is a fun bassline to play. It is easier than it looks. Once you get it, it feels great in your hands. 5th and 6th graders will have fun with this challenge.
Hands always alternate right - left - right - left...
Breaking it down into 2 halves is helpful. Have your students echo you.
