Bill and Connor Schell got the idea for “30 for 30” from the 1999-2007 ESPN program “SportsCentury.” Simmons’ just expounded on an already Peabody award winning framework built by that aforementioned program. And SportsCentury was more than just the Top 50 athletes of all time series. They documented such topics as “The Flu Game”, “1972 Olympic Men’s Basketball Final”, “1985 NCAA Championship Game”, “1999 Ryder Cup” and various other topics & athletes. Michael Husain was the writer/director.

    5 жыл бұрын

I really thought they were going to bring that up, but it's defensible I think. Bill was a "Ride or Die" fan with the Bird-McHale-Parish Celtics, not a huge surprise that he hated the KG-Pierce Celtics being broken up, at least in how he initially reacted to it right off the bat. He's a fan first and foremost, and he had a strong emotional connection to those guys, especially Pierce. I'm a Spurs fan, I'd have had the same initial reaction if "later years" Tony and Manu had been shipped off for future draft picks (though our front office has earned a whole lot of trust, and yeah that includes the Kawhi-Uncle Dennis drama).

That was great. I already liked Katie Nolan after being on simmons podcast last month (apparently she's been guest on many simmons podcasts but I didn't listen to them), now I am a fan.

Man I really thought James Young was going to be a very good player. I am with Simmons here. Good shooter, decent athlete, very young and good size for his position. I still think he had the potential to be a good player but didn't work hard enough to reach that potential.

James Young is not on the bucks. He was cut a year ago! He then was on 76ers, played there some games in nba and g league but he was waived there too and he's not right now in the nba. And if you wanted Bill to defend his take you should show him his reaction to the nets-celtics trade.

ESPN needs to bring back both Bill Simmons and Katie Nolan. Except for VanGundy, I'm good with their decision to say goodbye to the crew they sent out the door. Leaves plenty of room to rectify mistakes of the past.
