this is why i always go to proper greasy spoon local cafes for a proper fry up and not these trendy fancy places.

I know the coffee at Greggs isn’t great but a roll and a drink for what they charge is really good 👍 and no service charge!

Wish I'd seen your review before I went for same breakfast in Bill's in Cardiff Bay last week. Have to say that I was disappointed too. I asked for scrambled eggs which were overcooked. Yes, for me too, the sausage was awful. So overcooked. I wish I had complained and got it for free!

Nice that the waiter asked if you wanted tap water rather than bringing and charging for an overpriced bottle. I've been to a place that charged £5 for a bottle of still water

Bill’s is the ultimate triumph of style over substance. It looked like everything had been cooked before Christmas and kept warm since then. There’s no way those eggs had been cooked to order.

Went to a different branch, had a similar experience. Will avoid in future, glad its not just me!

I'm English, I had to google 'eggs over easy'. Surprised to see expressions like that on an English review. I appreciate Americans watch the videos but I bet you would be hard pushed to see an American reviewing items in America, using English expressions to satisfy the English viewer.

When I see the state of that egg I did actually think someone was playing a joke on you lol. That egg looked so fake 🤣 must be horrible for the staff especially when they arnt cooking it. This seriously reminds me of the time circa 2011 I made a Christmas morning fry up. I was about 4 cans in and got the timings all wrong so ended up bunging stuff in the oven to keep it warm however I ended up roasting most of it haha. I remember day dreaming cooking the beans for about 20 minutes haha. It was alot of fun however wouldn't have charged for it

Dude, those eggs are microwaved; that's how that horrible plastic film forms over the yolks, plus there are weird holes in the egg whites and both eggs are in the exact circular shape of a microwaveable container. Everything else looks pretty shonky too. Possibly the toast was not done in a microwave. But I bet they would have if they could have. I would have sent that meal back.

Good honest review. Look forward to your visit to Ainster ( that’s the local vernacular for Anstruther) we visited the chip shops there last year and it’s a tough choice between there and Arbroath . The St Andrew chip shops are good as well. Happy new year.

Lee, serious though this place is great! if you order the big breakfast done to perfection you get free refills on the coffee and it's good coffee too not instant rubbish

Those eggs !!!! They look like they should have been binned, not served !! Bills are interesting, they started off as a greengrocer in 2001and are now a chain of 80 odd "food outlets" Ultimately owned by the company/chap that also owns the Ivy chain as well as most of the upper-end Restaurant & Clubs in London. One of the problems with these types of places is consistency, they have huge menus to try and cater to everyone but not enough of the right staff to deliver the goods. Where are the family-run cafes that we all used to frequent in our youth?

maybe if bill's upped there wages, rather then paying minimum wage!!! they would actually attract real chefs to apply! also the eggs we're like that because they had been sat under the hot lights to long, clearly the so called great and helpful waitress's fault!!
