I'm a lifelong Laker Fan...with that being said Bill Russell the man and player I am a huge fan of. When Bob Cousey started to cry "we could have done much more to ease his pain" that moment of realization hurts me as a sports fan that Russell moved to Redding Mas and they treated him and his family so poorly. Kids these days need to take note of men like Mr Russell

I'm in tears. The world is diminished in so many ways by Bill Russel's passing. An example to all of mankind of how to not just play basketball but how life should be lived. You are loved and will be missed, Sir.

Bill Russell was the greatest to ever play the game. The fact that one cant put anyone above him without first tearing him down is testament to that.

His legacy, besides his winning pedigree, should be greatest defensive player ever. Whatever he lacked on offense, he made up for on defense. Imagine Dennis Rodman, on the Bulls, but Rodman was 6' 10 and could jump out of the building Too bad he brought a great winning tradition to a city that, culturally, didn't deserve it

Referring to the four major North American sports leagues (NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB), was actually FRITZ POLLARD who was the first black coach for four NFL teams during the 1920s. Most folks don’t consider Pollard as the first because the NFL was in its infancy then.

I would never have hired him to COACH my TEAM,and HE was my FAVorite player once,,but he SKIPPED practices,how could he be a great COACH.

He won NBA championships in 1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, and 1969. It's 11 titles that Bill Russell has won. He and the Celtics lost to Bob Petit and the St. Louis Hawks in six games. And they loss to Wilt Chamberlain and the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA semifinals in 1967. ANOTHER FACT: Bill Russell has never averaged less than 20 rebounds per game in any of his playoff career. Never!!!🏀
