In this video, see how Bill O'Brien's offense helped the Alabama Crimson Tide football team absolutely shred the pass defense of Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs. We'll see that UGA liked to bring blitzes to the side away from the run strength, and that Alabama had a lot of ways to take advantage of the numbers/voids that this created. We'll also see what Heisman Trophy winning QB Bryce Young brought to the table; O'Brien's passing concepts did a nice job of giving him answers against a variety of coverages, and it was then up to Young to process what he was seeing from a complex UGA defense, and then to make sure that he got into the right read vs. that coverage.

Thanks! When a team hits that combo of great scheme with great talent/development, it's almost unfair to watch. Young wouldn't be able to set all of these records without the coaching, and most QB's couldn't do what Young does even if they had the same coaching. There aren't a lot of places where you get the whole talent/development/scheme package consistently, but Saban's Alabama program has been the gold standard for the last 10+ years.

I know you did a video over Mike Gundy and the Kasey Dunn Offense 2020, but can you do the 2021 Jim Knowles DEFENSE. Thanks a lot, loved the Oklahoma And Oklahoma State offensive videos.

I'm really interested in what Knowles did this year! The only difficulty from a time-management standpoint is that I try to maximize my film study so that I can apply every breakdown to two videos, so ideally I'd break down Oklahoma State vs. some offenses that I want to make videos about, but the Big 12 wasn't great on that side of the ball this year. I just need to think more about the angles/storylines that'll be the most interesting, or maybe wait until later in the off-season when I have more time, because what Knowles is doing there definitely deserves a video!

Thanks! I just love football and spend all my spare time buried in coaching books, blogs, and clinic DVD's (either that or charting actual games). I've been at this for about 10 years now, starting with breakdowns for a Cal blog way back when, and then this year branching out to the rest of the country. My goal is to make an encyclopedia of playcallers, and to talk about the history of scheme and where everybody fits into it.
