Bill Mumy is fascinating in a very low-key way. I never feel like he's tooting his horn, even when he speaks about his own experiences. Jonathan Harris' story is fascinating. He was from a poor family in the Bronx and after becoming a fan of opera, he shed his Bronx accent and adopted a learned British one. The account in Wikipedia about how his writing affected the direction and focus of Lost In Space is intriguing.

Wonderful insights from Bill Mumy about his working with Jonathan Harris. Would that more actors have that rapport and talent of working with each other.

Billy Mumy was a youthful idol to me... _The show was a lot of fun_, especially for young fans of Sci-Fi, and appeared on TV when I was Bill's age in the show. The chemistry between him and Jonathan Smith was great. "Well.... Dr. Smith has his weak points, but..._he isn't a bad man._"

It is interesting to learn all these things so many years later. Always loved the show as a young kid but didnt get the right channels to see the reruns in the following years. Watching them today, it is obvious that what he says is correct. I'm not sure it was all for the best though. Dont get me wrong but maybe the audience did grow weary of the Smith character, its great stuff, classic TV, but I wonder if the shows initial run may have lasted longer than 3 years if the story's would have used more of the cast.

Great to hear that Harris re-wrote the scripts to suit his character, I wish more actors did that instead of just saying the lines they're given

Jonathan Harris claimed to be a great re-writer---not a writer

One thing Joanthan told ,me... when i asked him about working with all the wonderful guest stars...was there was ONE terrible working experience. In The Galaxy Gift..he came up and introduced himself to JOHN CARRADINE to welcome him..and Carradine replied "I dont care about you or the cast...I will read my lines and do my job now..F off" LOL... John Carradine was in a lot of pain though due to crippling arthritis... Was he mean to you bill?
