Daniela Bisenius Yes indeed! Bill was a pioneer in Jazz. Today, most work to imitate but not many create new ways of expressing melodic harmony the way Bill has. All 3 of these guys are at the capstone of their craft. I play upright and Marc Johnson has been quite an inspiration in my playing, possibly more than any other bassist. These guys are an inspiration to the art of Jazz.

Laurie is one of Evan's most beautiful compositions. And the trio is playing so well here. Marc Johnson perfect harmonic ideas and timing, Joe LaBarbera delicate brush work and master Bill Evans superb!

Amazing tune. Great chord changes nad Bill plays this with such a sentimental purpose.

was a student,l wondered why this work was to be associated with his girl friend was so sad. Now,I realized the mean how the love was so beautiful, painful and fleeting.

Ricordi meravigliosi.

Gorgeous. Possibly my favorite Bill Evans composition--maybe along with "Turn Out the Stars" and "Letter to Evan". It's getting harder and harder for me to decide, lately. Anyway, thanks much for all these great posts.

The caveman in the leisure suit look seems antithetically appropriate for this highly intellectual, but emotional ambiguous music somehow.
