Wait? There's a book?an actual book?
@AnoNymous-gn6tl
9 ай бұрын
@@thefacelessquestion3333 Yes, the movie is based on a novel from 2006, it was written by Max Brooks (the son of Mel Brooks) who also wrote "The Zombie Survival Guide". It's a very different story compared to the movie, and it is told chronologically out-of-order, through the perspectives of different people in different countries. The movie was mediocre compared to the novel.

WWZ, biggest disappointment ever made. They made a zombie movie that has literally nothing to do with zombies. The dead are rotting, mangled corpses that keep coming after you once they die from infection or injuries and all the corpses in WWZ were nice clean looking zombies with all their limbs intact, no shotgun blasts to the chest or axe and knife injuries. They all kinda looked grey or green with maybe a paper cut or two. The book is a massive epic about the national response and resources we would need and use if something like that happened and how we’d eventually have to take back our densely populated cities where the larger population of the living dead would reside. It reads like a UN after action report about how horrible it was by telling us from beginning to end how it all happened and how there’s always this ominous threat of it occurring again because after clearing the land of much of the dead the threat would always be the living dead that survive on in the oceans just waiting to walk onto land someday and all it would take would be one bite or just one living patient who’s been infected to lie to an emergency room about their symptoms as the patient desperately hoped antibiotics will somehow save them before it’s too late. Get the unabridged audiobook off audible it’s AMAZING. Mel brooks raised a sick little boy

This was greatest zombie movie ever not because of Brad pitt but the scenes it had the one where he encounters the zombie when he gets on the plane and lead scientist dies in front of him (oh shit) 2nd when they are in Israel and the wall scene happens, i was like 😲, 3rd the scene when they are in the air and whole plane gets zombie infestation, 4th when they are in the remote facility finally finding cure i mean it was AMAZING. well made movie seriously could have been 3 part movie. This movie was a wasted opportunity. The book was a perfect format to follow. A UN agent collecting stories about what happened. It could have had an almost anthology feel to it. But Pitt felt the need to try and have it be “Pitt tries to save the world from zombies!!!” And that’s why it flopped.
@tonispiip8054
5 жыл бұрын
Agreed, there's really no relation to the book except the name. Which is a shame. And the ideas in the film aren't even new, it uses the same old zombie tropes, the reason the book worked was the consistent rules of how the zombies worked and how it was less about horror or zombies and more about how humans react to the threat. If they had been true the book and made it R I'm sure Bill would have loved it.

I just listened to an episode from his podcast (from 2013) and he apologized after watching WWZ, and said he actually loved it.
This movie was a wasted opportunity. The book was a perfect format to follow. A UN agent collecting stories about what happened. It could have had an almost anthology feel to it. But Pitt felt the need to try and have it be “Pitt tries to save the world from zombies!!!” And that’s why it flopped.
@tonispiip8054
