I went bike packing alone from coast to coast following the Way of The Roses cycling route from Morecambe to Bridlington over the Yorkshire Dales National Park. I followed the National Cycle Network route the entire way apart from the closed bridge at Aldwark.

Thanks for watching my film! If you liked it, I would MASSIVELY grateful if you could give it a thumbs up 👍 and subscribe to my channel. ALSO Follow me on Instagram here: instagram.com/cycling366/ Happy Bikepacking! - Tom :)
I don't know why your Chanel doesn't have more subscribers. Your vids are so well constructed, beautiful.

Thanks Derek, yeah it’s a bit frustrating sometimes given the work I put in but we’ll get there eventually:)
Hi Tom, Matt from Australia. I did indeed finish LEJOG thanks...took me 12 days and was a fantastic ride. Highly recommended and based on this video I'm keen to try Way of the Roses...but also very Iceland curious too! Nice to meet you! Matt

Thanks Matt! Well done :) glad you enjoyed the highs and lows got LEJOG. Iceland is such an amazing place but might be a bit of a shock to the system coming from Oz 😂
Really cool to see the Drone footage, we did this a few years back and loved every mile of it, possibly excluding the Settle climb. Great film that brought back many many lovely memories. Thanks.

Awesome thanks! It’s a cracking route for sure
Agree with your sentiments on WOTR. Did it last year with my son in 2 days stopping overnight in Ripon and was the highlight of my cycling year. Lovely route on mainly quiet roads and cycleways. We were fortunate to complete the whole route including the toll bridge which was a bit rickety. Thanks for sharing and the memories.

Thanks Richard!
I did this route last September as my first multi day cycle at the ripe old age of 59 on a hard tail mountainbike with knobbly tyres and wild camped. The first two days were absolutely brutal. Weather was fantastic. I really enjoyed it despite it being incredibly hard in places.

Oh my word I am 62 and doing it this year ( gulp) 😂
This is excellent! a work of art. I'm just back today from the route- cycling from home in Garstang to Morecambe, over to Brid, camped on Flamborough Head, via childhood homes and schools in Yorkshire, through Wensleydale to Hawes and Ingleton and then back homw.

Great video Tom and I've just completed the C2C from Morecambe to Scarborough. We followed the WOTR all the way to Pateley Bridge but then took slightly different routes to Scarborough. Your videos helped me immensely in planning the routes as I used Mapmyride for route planning (after seeing one of your earlier videos) and we actually stopped at Talbot House after I saw it on this video. The route is amazing and something I'll remember for a long time!

Awesome! Glad it went well for you - I should work on commission for these hotels 😂 thanks very much for your kind comments 👍
Great video - I've subbed! I really like the filmed route and then the explanation and information in the second half. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers Paul, appreciate it :)
I did this route in August this year & I loved it. I also, unknowingly had the same issue with the bridge being closed. I spoke to a local who directed me through a golf course & then onto another bridge across the river. But by then I'd lost the signs & they Garmin just wasn't playing. I ended up on the main road unfortunately towards York until I eventually managed to pick up the correct route.

Nice! Yes I knew about the footpath bridge but didn’t want to get in trouble for riding on the golf course footpath haha. Glad you enjoyed it :)

Yeah that’s for sure. Right at the end of my day as well so was a leg sapper. Should be a good one from your doorstep!
Feeling old - at uni ten years ago! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 When it's 45 or 50 years ago, then, perhaps, just maybe, we might listen. We did Lejog in 10 days at 50+; Ride to the Sun is an annual fixture, in our 60s, etc, etc, etc.

Great route and informative video. Like you said bit harder at the start (west). The hill out of Settle is brutal. I missed the last train home from Bridlington to Goole. Completed in 2022.

Hi just found this channel. Excellent really enjoy it some great shots. Just 4 info you actually can still avoid the diversion at Aldwark Bridge as there is a footpath which leads onto Aldwark golf course which is public grassy Excellent path along side of course. Public land and easy to ride. I did this sboug 3 weeks ago. And yes the climb out of Settle is s beauty! You did well if u got up there with all your luggage

Thanks! I was aware of the footpath but seeing as bikes aren’t really allowed on footpaths I couldn’t recommend it to anyone in case I got a telling off… I’m used to the monster hills being from the Peak District but it’s still a proper monster that one!
Just finished the coast and castles north south.. hopefully will be doing this ride in september.. very good info here :) due to funding will be doing the ditch and sleep routine again (in a fields or hedge back)

Did it a few years ago in 10 hour 15 mins, nearly killed me. I’m thinking about doing a circular from Doncaster along to TPT to Southport, then up to Morecombe, then along the Way of the Roses to York then back to Donny on the TPT. Can you do it for me post it and tell me how it was?? Thanks😂😂
