    Many years ago did an off road mtb adventure from Marrakesh into and over the Atlas Mountains down to Aït Benhaddou, the donkeys were faster than me uphill, kids hid in clay brick houses as we passed through cobbled 1 street villages, shady patios inhabited by fly covered sleepy dogs who paid us no interest. One of my most memorable rides with my family.

    Gassing with mates, great scenery, and great riding. You did some wonderful filming here too. The pool looked a bit cold, Wim Hof, even. You boys look intimidatingly fit of course, and needed to be with plenty of hairpins up seriously steep slopes, but 80km on the off day is going some! Smiling kids and the home team doing their country proud was lovely to see, and the off season hotel prices must have been welcoming. A fab time was had methinks, and I'm envious to be sure.

    The Luchos wrapper is a dried banana leaf which have been cleaned and used for the packaging so is like a leaf falling from a tree. I’m someone who picks up litter when I can but feel like this is a better solution than adding to landfill.

    @@Josh-Reid just because something is compostable doesn't mean it should be thrown anywhere, just means it should be composted. I imagine that wrapper will take ages to compost in those conditions. National Trust coffee cups are meant to be compostable but throwing them to the ground any old place is littering pure and simple. If you carry something all that way, carry it for the next hour or 2 and then put into the correct waste bin at the end of your ride surely? Great, inspiring videos otherwise, keep it up!

  • @Josh-Reid

    @Josh-Reid

    @davidbond4471 I totally agree with you in most situations. However, it is also a leaf that will blend in with all the other leaves that have fallen at this time of year.

    Nice ride, I hope to visit Marocco one day. Unfortunately seeing the snack wrapper being just thrown on the ground really left me with a sour taste. Absolutely disgraceful. And the fact that you didn't even edit it out makes me wonder if it's an isolated episode or if you guys left a trail of plastic bags, bottles and empty cans of pringles 😩

  • @Josh-Reid

    @Josh-Reid

    Жыл бұрын

    The wrapper that was thrown is made from banana leaves from a company called Luchos. I am someone who picks up trash from trails and consider it as a sort of payment when I wild camp to leave the area cleaner than I found it. I have no issue with dropping leaves on the ground next to a tarmac road especially.

  • @Al_Fresco

    @@Josh-Reid sorry but that's a poor excuse and it also shows a lack of understanding of what compostable means. Just because the wrapping is made out of compostable material, it doesn't mean you can discard it where and how you please. For the same reasons why (I hope) you don't throw banana peels randomly along the road or take a shit anywhere you fancy when wild camping.

  • @Josh-Reid

    @Josh-Reid

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Al_Fresco I understand where you’re coming from when it comes to packaging that is labelled compostable which generally means it can be broken down in an industrial composting facility. This packaging is not this it is literally a leaf. If I see a bit of plastic next time I’m on a ride I’ll swap my leaf for the trash.
