Your channel is the only one I see with old bikes from the 80's and 90's. I have a 1989 Yamaha FZR1000. I paid $5200 for it in 2014. It only had 4,002 miles on it and had just had a $1500 service. I have 28,000 miles on it now and am about to do a major service on it. Was thinking of buying a used 2016 R1M but love my oldie to much.

Bikes we all aspired to own back in the day.. thanks for doing these kind of videos. Really enjoyed it.

Oof, that YZF either is wayyyy too rich in the carbs, the intake valves need proper adjustment, or worse the valve seals and/or piston rings are on the way out! Smoke screen machine! Great video though, surprisingly close indeed, thought the blade would crush the 750.

My 1990 ZXR750H2 still after 27 years of ownership puts a very big smile on my face 😊

H2 was my first road bike after racing CR250 for 4 years. It will always be close to my heart

That shape fireblade was my first big bike after a cx500. Commuting in the snow for the first week of ownership was certainly an eye opener. Great bikes even now and I think people would be happier if we still had things like this where they are fun but not so serious that they are mostly track only.

Made mar day👌👍💪 "Edge of lightening" lives on. Yeah sit on that blade's pillion seat all day long. One hand on the rentec the other under the strap.loads of memories. Thanks lads👌

That Fireblade was my first committed memory as a kid for bikes because I had never seen a motorcycle before. I touched the Exhaust after someone had ridden it. Massive mistake and lesson learned but I’ve loved them since that very day.

After seeing 44 Teeth’s budget bike battle featuring the exact same models I am a HUGE fan of both of these bikes. I know you mentioned the second Gen fire blade isn’t as loved as the first, but I would love to have one. Harder to come by stateside. Haven’t seen one yet here

Today's bikes have tones of electronics and look sleeker but bikes from the 90s and early 2000s were the real sport bikes.. No electronics, no abs, no traction control.. Just raw power and men with balls to tame those machines.

A truly fantastic test!!! It would be nice to have a comparison of the same CBR 900 with a 1000 of the same year and with the Kawasaki ZX9R...

This is cool. I would really like to see this channel racing older bikes. Or first edition vs. last edition bikes. For example first R6 vs Last built R6. I own first gen R6, yes, haha

Oh yeah, used to ride one blade back in the early 2000 when they where couple of years old. Had to buy one 1996 model just to see if they still got that magic. It still does and felt like home after all the years.

I would love to see more older bikes on the channel! Drag race with a firestorm, gsxr and a vfr? All from end 90's era? Would be interesting to see the torque vs horsepower difference.

I believe this is where the fun in biking is in these times,, £20+ modern bikes (if you can afford one) are great, but these older 90's and 2000's bikes are where it's at, having owned both of these bikes over the years, I'd be happy with either, but in preference plump for a 1997 RRV Blade.

I would have rather watched a dig race, but those rely more on the rider, and not the bikes capabilities. This was perfect, and I will always prefer the older bike videos produced by Bike World vs. newer bikes.

I had an rrv fireblade, great bike. The 06 R1 that replaced it was in a different league though.

The Yamaha must not be ridden hard usually as it was smoky at first. Nice to see it clean up on the 2nd run.

I'm still not used to these bikes being called "old school"! My newest bike is a 1987 Honda Hurricane 600 (first year).

I bought a new 1995 Suzuki GSXR-1100W (of course in what I now call “OH SO 90’s Black and Purple!!!” Which is now all the rage, that along w mullets haircuts! But I went to a dealership and rode the CBR-900 and I felt like I was sitting up on top of the tank!!! Like I was sitting way high! So next bike I went to demo was the GSXR-1100W and I fell in love w it! I still own the bike, has 12000 miles on it and looks like it came off the showroom floor yesterday! Aside from the carbs jetted and the Vance and Hines Exhaust and I sprayed the windshield bodycolor, aside from that she looks factory fresh!!!

With these bikes YOU are the rider... ...not a computer.

The yzf could do with a new set of emulsion tubes and a dynojet kit plus a set of piston rings and maybe top end rebuid, they weren't built with the best materials back in the day,.They were oil burners to, mine would need regular oil top ups,. mine new in 95 £8550,. red/white/black

i have just bought a YZF 750R. i am 52 and used to own one when they first came out. i have a MT10 SP aswell but my god at 52 riding the YZF after that many years is an eye opener its as stiff as a plank same as my creaking body

A real blast from the past. I had a 94 yzf750 from new and loved it , had it up until 2000 when I traded it in for a 99 R1. Still have my R1 , awesome bike.

Could be good to stick a car in the mix as well, gives a bit of perspective and it’s always good beating them anyway 😂

Would of loved to see how they would compare to a modern middleweight naked with similar bhp.

Sometimes, we (I know I do) forget the entire reason we ride these bikes is to enjoy them and have fun. You dont need the latest track weapon and in fact that can get in the way of what makes a motorcycle all round enjoyable to ride on on your local twisties

They still sound awesome!

De kind with them???... I have 6 of these bikes all 90s and pre-2001 bikes. No silly electronics this and that. Yes I take constant care of them. But I ride them hard and they still come back for more! Keep up the good fun. :)

@@bertbroeder1832 My take too. It was running rich, but there was a puff of blue smoke too when initially getting on the throttle.

Yea those blades were not quite as good compared to other bikes of the time, still pretty quick and kind of nice looking 😂 You need to stop sleeping on the Kawasaki ZX9r's (none ever featured anywhere, and rarely even mentioned), very underrated bikes, obvs the Y2k+ models were the best overall, but the earlier bikes were still great. Especially the 98-99 C1+C2 being the first production bike to do the 1/4 mile under 10 secs, 9.9 @ 136mph, 0-60 3 secs. I think you'd be very surprised and wonder why you were not already a big fan of those gorgeous beasts! 😄👍

@@RIDINGASILVER9 That is awesome mate! 106k miles is impressive, any rebuild/refresh of the engine along the way? My E1 is at about 23k miles now, only had it 2.5 years, off the road at the mo for head gasket and valve clearances, had a few little issues slowing me down but hope to be back on it soon. Unfortunately was left outside for five years before I got it, so not in the condition it should be, but far from the worst.

@@HalfdeadRider No issues at all with the engine all original ....regular oil/filter and let the motor warm up ....just usual wear and tear items ....and always garaged .....will not be letting this one go.

@@RIDINGASILVER9 Definitely worth getting the engine in for a refresh if it really hasn't been done mate, it will need it for sure. You will be surprised how much power you've lost through extra pass-by of the piston rings. An old XR3i me and a mate done many years ago even shocked me when I first drove it after a rebuild. I would have had it refreshed long ago, probably twice by now 😁

@@HalfdeadRider Agree some power losses are inevitable after 106K miles ....but it is something that is not really noticable in normal road riding ......This is my second high mileage ninja ....my C2 got to 51000 miles before the fabled gearbox issues took that off the road .....my F2P still has good compression ...does not burn oil or smoke... starts on the button and has no problems redlining .....Hope you get your E1 sorted soon .

I have a modern bike or two but the best fun I have is chasing my mates GSXR750m (full system) on my ‘98 Fireblade.

Bikes you can ride and get the most out of on the road without a raft of electronics needed just to keep you upright and out of a hedge! 200bhp+ sports bikes are a dying breed and it started once they went north of 180bhp, thy may be the pinnacle of development but its pitiful just how few they now sell and that is very telling.

My dad owned that yammy a few years ago, smoked back then too 😂

Still own my 96 rrt in R127A colours exactly like the one featured. I've had her for 20 years and would never willingly part with her. I think this age of bike was the end of fun bikes, everything got too serious after them.

the extra capacity of the Honda letting it pull ahead I guess.. a GSXR 750 would be a nice apples for apples comparison.. apples being green, why not a Kawasaki also thrown into the pot as well

Now try FZR 1000 against that Fireblade, less than 100ccm difference :)
