Hi what is top speed on your 1 and if unlocked it how did you do it I tryed change display tho no luck I think controller locked.Am looking 4 wide u locks 2 put tru battery trying see how can lock battery

Hi James. Loving the videos! What are your thoughts on commuting 28k each way on the Moke? Mainly cycle path and park path. I like the style and fun it offers but wondered if it’s practical that way..

Hey 👋 appreciate the kind words ☺️ I think a 28km commute each way is definitely an option on the Moke. The latest batteries will be more than enough to get you there and back on a single charge. I’d suggest getting front suspension for added comfort though. I’d also buy waterproofs in case you get caught in the rain and make sure there was somewhere safe to park your bike 😁 I think it’s a great idea - save money on fuel/train fare, get some exercise and have a lot of fun ⚡️👍

@@JamesStanton Thanks for your reply and useful tips. If the suspension was over budget, would it be too rough a ride for that regular journey? There will be no off-road riding. Your videos are real nostalgia for me as I used to cycle from East Finchley to Old Street for a good few years when I was in London and although the cycle ways were poor back in the Livingstone days, the freedom was great.

@@andrewandersonx I think you’d be fine without suspension, my Moke is without and 5k miles in and I’m doing swell 😄 you can always upgrade your forks in good time. I used to ride through London (mostly kings cross - south bank) during the Livingstone days when bike lanes were few and far between - it was a very different experience then!

4:10 Wait.. That doesn't come as standard? How do you accelerate otherwise?

To be classed as a legal e-bike (in the UK) it needs to be pedal assist - start pedalling and the motor kicks in after half a turn. Although I'm finding out that the legality of a "throttle" may be more complex then I first thought - I'm working on a another video explaining all this. @@JamesStanton Ah I see. I thought you could have a throttle that as long as you have pedal assist. Super73 does come with a throttle as standard, right? (same laws apply over here in the Netherlands btw). EDIT: Just looked it up. Depends on the country. Makes sense..

Think throttles need to be limited to 6km on UK roads (what they call walking assist pace) please correct me if I'm wrong. Love the content.

No grey area, it's pretty black and white to me. Its electric motor: must have a maximum power output of 250 watts should not be able to propel the bike when it’s travelling more than 15.5mph

Throttles on eBikes and UK Law. Hi James, Sent you an eMail with my contact details, am currently in the middle of a lot of controversy over the throttle question as regards multiple government consultations, so kind of have most of the answers for you. The short answer is that from the 1st of January 2016, throttles where actually outlawed on all eBikes in the UK, (although any eBike produced before then is still permitted to keep them, so vintage eBike are good on this one), as this effectively makes them L2 class mopeds, they do allow a walk assist throttle but that is very, very low speed only. Consequently if you get caught on your eBike by the Police and they discover you have a throttle you will be treated as you where riding an illegal none registered moped as you don’t have a registration plate. Many, many delivery riders on home-build eBikes have fallen fowl off this already, hence company’s like Gorillas make sure there ebikes are pedal assist only now. This also means you where then also riding without insurance, ( as 2000 eScooter riders in London have recently found out, to their personal cost, including my business partner), which means you will immediately be given a FPN of £300.00 and six points on your license for 3 years, which puts your insurance into the stratosphere in London, which if like me you rely on your vehicle for your business can be really very problematic.
