Thanks! Still working on things, but I'm pretty happy with the Audio now.

Thanks to all your reviews that gave me a good idea of how each headset is. I took a same path as you did and finally, I recommend neck speaker like BRAVIA Theater U, if you haven't tried.

Sorry, but speakers resting on my shoulders is very poorly suited for my uses in VR. In room scale FPS games I would lose the 3D directionality of the sound as I turn my head so I couldn't hear where the enemy is coming from. On my sim rig it would be much worse. I have a 6 point racing harness with motors that pull tightly on the shoulder belts when I hit the brakes and it pulls harder on the outer belt driving in a turn. It would not only be painful to have to put this on after I was belted in, but the speakers would be moving on top of my belts the whole time which would strike me as very distracting. My IEM solution works very well on my rig because the Comply Pro inserts both keep the IEM's well positioned and dampen out 37dB of noise, so I can't hear my rig's motion or tactile system adding to the immersion. I also forget I'm wearing them since they are extremely light and fit perfectly.

​@@markkovalcson7243 As for 3D directionality of the sound, Theater U has a game mode that can use the headset's output. But for racing, as you say it should be distracting moving on your belts. Thanks for the insghts though, Impressed at your relentless quest.

Meanwhile my Beyond still hasn't even shipped, let alone my audio strap

Overall are you happy with the Beyond? I have a quest 3 and it's amazing, but the black levels are super gray and I can see compression artifacts. I have the Beyond ordered and I picked up index controllers and basestations. I am just worried that it will come and I will prefer the Quest 3 and want to send it back immediately.

I'm very happy with the Beyond. That hasn't changed since I got it. The blacks and color on the Beyond are unmatched. For me and my use case it's a great fit! Unfortunately, people are all over the spectrum with regard to what they consider acceptable or a deal breaker. I know people who love and hate every headset out there for one or more reasons. With the Beyond the first issue is making sure you have a good fit. Once you have a good fit then the biggest issue some people have is glare. I doesn't bother me, but for some it is an issue. But like I said, I know people who have hated every headset that I've used, so there is just no telling until you try it for yourself.

@@markkovalcson7243 going from the Q3 back to my index my jaw drops at how much better then index colors are, but the resolution is far too low for todays standards. Q3 is better in every way and the index isn’t even known for having good colors. But when you have that uncompressed DisplayPort feed it is way better for colors and sharpness.

One of my biggest problems with my beyond is when I look straight down with my head, no matter how tight I have the default strap, gravity always pulls the headset off my cheeks enough to take me out of the sweets spot. Would you recommend this for solving this problem? I have the same problem with every other head set I’ve tried, even with hard head straps, but I’m wondering if that would be different with how light the beyond is.

I don't have any issues with the audio strap.

Does the audio solution offer just Stereo or even 5.1/7.1 surround sound?

Stereo, but VR has directionality. So in a game you can hear if something is coming up behind you or to the side and as you turn your head the sound will maintain its position in virtual space around you.

Close, but not quite. I found that it was very good in game, but I also like to wear my IEM's that cost about as much as the Beyond.

They are Koss drivers, to be precise - KPH40i, which are literally same thing as Porta Pro despite their appearance

the reason i can't use this is that i need to lay my head back on my f1 cockpit, so i need it to be a strap or as thin as a strap at the back

I'm in more of a GT position and the back of my head doesn't touch down. I've never tried the more reclined F1 seating.

Your head should not be touching the seat even in the F1 position.....
