    You can find this at many Round 1 arcades. Most of the time it’s the overhead with a monitor, and it’s in japanese, but if you’re near one, try it out! Also, the J-Pop music is catchy.

    I used to play this all the time at the ill-fated Disney Quest, a five-floor arcade that once existed in Orlando, Florida. How I wish Disney hadn't shuttered its doors...

    Yep, one opened near me not that long ago at Great Lakes Crossing Mall in Auburn Hills, MI! Very fun place to spend an evening!

    You should find a World's Largest Pac-Man. They're awesome! Not only huge, but has a fantastic 2 player mode, and the screen is very unique in that it uses actual LEDs like a digital billboard rather than traditional display tech. It makes for some amazingly beautiful, bright, chunky visuals!

    There's one at Round1 near where I live (which also includes Galaga). There's also a giant Space Invaders game that plays really fast and you use a gun turret to shoot at the Invaders!

    I saw the giant Space Invaders too, both in Branson, MO at The Bigfoot. Sadly, Space Invaders was set on such a hard difficulty and short timer that it felt like a ripoff and I barely played it.

    We have one at the world's largest truckstop in Walcott, IA. It's a blast to play, but it gets a little tricky when you have to look around the control panel...

    I’ve seen this machine at an arcade in Ann Arbor called Pinball Pete’s. It was in Japanese and had the projector. You should really check out that arcade, it’s the best arcade in Michigan. It’s got the best retro games and the owner always repairs them to keep them in the best original state.

    I noticed that this game uses the same hardware as the Dreamcast! It is using Naomi after all. This could have been ported on the Dreamcast if it didn't fail.

    Tetris Giant uses the RingWide hardware which is all PC based.

    It uses a compact format of the NAOMI hardware known as the System SP (aka Aurora) that was used in some budget machines. This was the final game using any variant of the NAOMI hardware, being released in late 2009 in Japan and early 2010 internationally. Sure, the RingEdge/RingWide duo did also release in 2009 - but Tetris Giant does not use RingEdge/RingWide, it uses System SP - a compact fork of the NAOMI hardware.

    Being a Tetris fan since the 80’s, this is a very cool arcade novelty! However I am super excited for the upcoming Tetris Effect in VR. If you would had told me as a kid that one day I’d be able to go “inside Tetris” I would have said you were crazy. :)

    You know, this kind of reminds me of that "Biggest Pacman" arcade cabinet I see in Union Station these days. Kinda odd to see them alongside VR machines, but watching this vid kind of reminds me of that.

    I just love how you showed nes tetris when talking about the vs mode because if you access the hidden multiplayer mode in nes tetris with the game gene you get the same fighting over the next box princepe, its pretty awsome you might want to look it up

    I saw this at Round1 Bowling & Amusement at Great Lakes Crossing (Auburn Hills, MI). They have many Japanese arcade games there which include giant Pac-Man,/Galaga and Space Invaders games that use giant LED boards for their displays! Will have to try that Tetris Giant next time I'm there!

    The use of monkeys in this version is actually a reference to previous SEGA versions of Tetris including the SEGA's arcade release and the Dreamcast version.

    I was going to mention that I've played this at Strong. And lo and behold, they did too. So never mind. I will say, though, that Strong also has a truly amazing pinball room with like 3 dozen tables. It's the main reason I revisit the museum.

    The giant joysticks remind me of the movie "Joysticks" from 1983 (they had giant joysticks on top of platforms as part of a game challenge in the film).

    Fun fact, “dekacon” is just a portmanteau of “dekai” (giant) and “controller”. I’ve also seen arcades in Japan put other games in these cabinets like Super Mario Bros

    Yooo I've been hoping someone would make a vid about this game. I love Tetris and this is a very unknown gem. The strategy changes so much with the giant pieces. I love playing big mode on nullpomino. It's similar but the field is only 5 minos across instead of 6.

    Co-op mode looks a lot like co-op mode in tengen tetris save for in that version there is no side of the screen you are tied to and both players can drop tetrominos wherever they like in the well.

    If you ever get a chance to go to the National Video Game Museum in Frisco, TX,. they have a Pong machine that absolutely dwarfs even this. It's insane. The knobs are bigger than the tires of my vehicle. Plus they have a TON of other amazing stuff , including one of Brown Box prototypes signed by Ralph Baer himself.

    We emulated it back at our studio. We have a lot of footage of us playing the game on camera but we felt it would look better this way.

    Tetris the grand master 3 and Tetris Party Deluxe have some similar variants to this mini well variant of tetris… or if you're playing lockjaw you can adjust the well size

    In these giant Tetris game modes , Sometimes you have to stack high and leave holes you wouldn't normally do on regular Tetris. Watching people who are really good at Tetris giant is fascinating. It looks totally counterintuitive to what you'd think it should be. IDK I hope I make sense.

    9:15 Is not actually the first time that they made a fight for the pieces mechanic. Another Tetris game in Japan (I forgot the name) is also to the same thing, but I think Magical Tetris Challenge is does the same thing.
