This is the biggest official version of Tetris we've ever seen. This arcade game was a licensed Tetris Company product. If you've ever seen a larger version that is official let us know!

*AND TETRIIIIIIIS!!!*
When you're playing with the green joystick while your friend uses the red one: *Not bad, but mine's bigger*
You can find this at many Round 1 arcades. Most of the time it’s the overhead with a monitor, and it’s in japanese, but if you’re near one, try it out! Also, the J-Pop music is catchy.

I used to play this all the time at the ill-fated Disney Quest, a five-floor arcade that once existed in Orlando, Florida. How I wish Disney hadn't shuttered its doors...

I don't know if it's in the one in Portland, Maine. I'd love to go there, and I live in Northern Maine.
You should find a World's Largest Pac-Man. They're awesome! Not only huge, but has a fantastic 2 player mode, and the screen is very unique in that it uses actual LEDs like a digital billboard rather than traditional display tech. It makes for some amazingly beautiful, bright, chunky visuals!

There's one at Round1 near where I live (which also includes Galaga). There's also a giant Space Invaders game that plays really fast and you use a gun turret to shoot at the Invaders!
@RichardCraig

I saw the giant Space Invaders too, both in Branson, MO at The Bigfoot. Sadly, Space Invaders was set on such a hard difficulty and short timer that it felt like a ripoff and I barely played it.

We have one at the world's largest truckstop in Walcott, IA. It's a blast to play, but it gets a little tricky when you have to look around the control panel...
I’ve seen this machine at an arcade in Ann Arbor called Pinball Pete’s. It was in Japanese and had the projector. You should really check out that arcade, it’s the best arcade in Michigan. It’s got the best retro games and the owner always repairs them to keep them in the best original state.

They also have an old-school Tetris machine there. Fairly confident My high score still stands. JKC
Co-op would be a good mode in Puyo Puyo Tetris Switch.
This is crazy because I live just outside of Rochester and I used to go to the Strong museum all the time.
I noticed that this game uses the same hardware as the Dreamcast! It is using Naomi after all. This could have been ported on the Dreamcast if it didn't fail.

Tetris Giant uses the RingWide hardware which is all PC based.
@solarstrike33
5 жыл бұрын
It uses a compact format of the NAOMI hardware known as the System SP (aka Aurora) that was used in some budget machines. This was the final game using any variant of the NAOMI hardware, being released in late 2009 in Japan and early 2010 internationally. Sure, the RingEdge/RingWide duo did also release in 2009 - but Tetris Giant does not use RingEdge/RingWide, it uses System SP - a compact fork of the NAOMI hardware.

@The SNES Man wasnt this game released for the dreamcast aswell?
Expected a 10 min gameplay, got a very good & complete explaination! Pleasent surprise ^^ Great video and never heard of this version of Tetris before! I'd totally try it out!!
Being a Tetris fan since the 80’s, this is a very cool arcade novelty! However I am super excited for the upcoming Tetris Effect in VR. If you would had told me as a kid that one day I’d be able to go “inside Tetris” I would have said you were crazy. :)
That ball controller makes you feel IN the game! It just does.
You know, i pretty miss the one-seconded intro.
I've wanted to see one of these cabinets for years. Thank you so much for this video.
You were in Rochester? I wish I knew. You'd have loved my home arcade and game collection. Love your channel!!!
I'm so glad someone finally made a video on this game
You know, this kind of reminds me of that "Biggest Pacman" arcade cabinet I see in Union Station these days. Kinda odd to see them alongside VR machines, but watching this vid kind of reminds me of that.
I just love how you showed nes tetris when talking about the vs mode because if you access the hidden multiplayer mode in nes tetris with the game gene you get the same fighting over the next box princepe, its pretty awsome you might want to look it up
Thx for bringing more video game knowledge NEVER have I seen this and I frukking know Tetris (I thought) Cheers 👍🏼
202 lines isn't the max in Tetris giant ITS 200 Also in the Japanese side it's called Tetris dektaris
I saw this at Round1 Bowling & Amusement at Great Lakes Crossing (Auburn Hills, MI). They have many Japanese arcade games there which include giant Pac-Man,/Galaga and Space Invaders games that use giant LED boards for their displays! Will have to try that Tetris Giant next time I'm there!
Wooo! Epic Game Music!
Reminds me of the Super Pac-man game played at the end of the movie "Joysticks".
Man when Sega did hit a homerun they did all out and amazing
I'm watching this while playing a small version of Tetris on a basic fun mini arcade cabinet
The use of monkeys in this version is actually a reference to previous SEGA versions of Tetris including the SEGA's arcade release and the Dreamcast version.
I was going to mention that I've played this at Strong. And lo and behold, they did too. So never mind. I will say, though, that Strong also has a truly amazing pinball room with like 3 dozen tables. It's the main reason I revisit the museum.
man, hope i can see one on my country. time to emulate this bad boy. also, some of mechanic can be implemented to iteration of tetris and it will be heck of fun (especially vs mode)
1:25 “I’ve never seen anything bigger than this.” That’s what she said.
Woo-hoo, almost in my backyard. Also, wasn't there giant ball end justices in the classic movie Joysticks?
The giant joysticks remind me of the movie "Joysticks" from 1983 (they had giant joysticks on top of platforms as part of a game challenge in the film).
Ah man!! I wanna play!!!! Of all the video games I've ever played, Tetris is, and always will be, my favorite game.
what's awesome is this game is/was in my hometown. Sadly the arcade is hard to get to, but still it's a cool fun game.
Once COVID ends imma head to that Museum in Rochester cuz it looks dope
Man, I haven't been there in years. I want to go back to the Strong someday. Say "Hell Yeah" if you are also from Rochester, NY.
Fun fact, “dekacon” is just a portmanteau of “dekai” (giant) and “controller”. I’ve also seen arcades in Japan put other games in these cabinets like Super Mario Bros
The Joysticks remind me of a 80s movie called well... joystick
Yooo I've been hoping someone would make a vid about this game. I love Tetris and this is a very unknown gem. The strategy changes so much with the giant pieces. I love playing big mode on nullpomino. It's similar but the field is only 5 minos across instead of 6.
Whats interesting is theres a 1980s movie called Joysticks that use these giant floor sticks with buttons on them. I think the idea has been around since early gaming but maybe never used till recently?
That Tetris is huge
Holy crap. When I was a kid I went here with my cousins and played giant tetris every time.
Jaw drop moment has achieved!
Could we talk about when your time limit is running out, the weird, off pitch music plays?
soundtrack for this game is a fucking BOP
I just found out an arcade nearby in Northern California had this same machine, decals and everything.
Co-op mode looks a lot like co-op mode in tengen tetris save for in that version there is no side of the screen you are tied to and both players can drop tetrominos wherever they like in the well.
If you ever get a chance to go to the National Video Game Museum in Frisco, TX,. they have a Pong machine that absolutely dwarfs even this. It's insane. The knobs are bigger than the tires of my vehicle. Plus they have a TON of other amazing stuff , including one of Brown Box prototypes signed by Ralph Baer himself.

OK, I gots to know how you got video capture of the gameplay. If that's just cam capture thats amazing. If the machine has video out you can tap into then that's even more amazing :P

We emulated it back at our studio. We have a lot of footage of us playing the game on camera but we felt it would look better this way.
I bet this version could port so well to a ticket dispenser or even a prize redemption variety...which has become a hit in the arcades, these days.
@rerez
5 жыл бұрын
From what I'm to understand this can be converted to a Ticket Dispenser variation straight from Sega.
Wow I've played the same machine as you!
I played this at Disney Quest before it shut down, sadly their unit was very busted when I played it
As a Tetris "pro" this makes me want to buy one of these.
If it's coming to Switch, it possibly have a LABO version of that stick or miniature of entire arcade unit..
I only just now noticed the ring on his finger, is Shane married?
Wait, how did you capture footage? Did they let you record?
Tetris plus is my fave version
Tetris the grand master 3 and Tetris Party Deluxe have some similar variants to this mini well variant of tetris… or if you're playing lockjaw you can adjust the well size
Clearly Sega needs to get Arika on the phone to make Tetris The Giant Grandmasters
In these giant Tetris game modes , Sometimes you have to stack high and leave holes you wouldn't normally do on regular Tetris. Watching people who are really good at Tetris giant is fascinating. It looks totally counterintuitive to what you'd think it should be. IDK I hope I make sense.
Imagine if we actually got a home console port of this
This needs to be on the Nintendo Switch! Who's with me? They should also make the giant Joysticks while they're at it!

9:15 Is not actually the first time that they made a fight for the pieces mechanic. Another Tetris game in Japan (I forgot the name) is also to the same thing, but I think Magical Tetris Challenge is does the same thing.
I’ve played this before at an arcade!
1:25 that's what she said!
6:54 The maximum number of lines is actually 200.
This is epic!
Boom! Tetris for Jeff
I played Tetris giant and it was awesome

WOWEEEEE LOOK AT THOSE TETRAMENO
If I was designing those machines, I might of put the buttons by the Feet instead to make it something even wilder!
I’d love this on Switch, even if it’s not as good as the original

Perfect controller for a Ken player.
Great. Now I wish that the Deka-con series actually took off & took the head of the controller, incorporated it into a trackball setup, & took a chance at another Super Monkey Ball sequel. FUCK!!
