Biggest Sea Monsters Size Comparison
Ойын-сауық
Humans have always been fascinated by the ocean ... After all, even today we’re not entirely certain what lies beneath the waters that cover more than 70% of the Earth’s surface. So it’s no wonder that storytellers throughout history-from the most ancient mythologies to modern monster movies-have populated those dark waters with all sorts of giant ocean monsters, ready to wreak havoc on the surface world at a moment’s provocation. Some of these mythic sea monster are so large they can lay waste to entire cities with ease while others are no bigger than the creatures that actually inhabit the oceans of the world, but all of them have captured human imagination throughout the years.

What about any of the Leviathans from Subnautica? The Reaper Leviathan is an obvious choice, but the Gargantuan is really terrifying! It's stunning, but considering how massive it is and how powerful his special attack is, it could be on here as well. Nice video BTW 😎

I think Jörmungandr is 40,000 km long but even in 4,800, he's really gigantic. He is my favourite sea monster and my familly is aware about this and they like him too! To be fair, nordic people didn't knew that the Earth is that big Probably, when the mythology was created, when the said that Jörmungandr can surround Midgard, they meant south Scandinavia, because tha was all the world they knew In other words, 4,800 km is the size according to the knowledge of the nordic people of that time and 40,000 km is the size according to our modern world knowledge Or at least that's what I think is the reason

Oh ebirah was in this. But you left out the king of the monsters?!
You should distinguish between monster, animals and extinct Fauna, a Megalodon isn't a monster, nor are the Collosal squids or White Sharks, they're just animals. Monster by its very definition is a fake or imaginary creature. (Also not to mention Orca's are apexes and hunt white sharks and other massive whales, if you're saying that modern white sharks are monsters then they should be on the list.)
@merp9610
9 ай бұрын
Colossal squids and Great White Sharks are often considered the closest we have evidence of in the modern day to "Sea Monsters". Additionally, I believe they were added to be used in reference to larger creatures like the Megalodon and the Kraken. The Megalodon, while having existed far in the past, is considered to be a Sea Monster as several tales of large sharks being attributed to potentially being these ancient sharks still around. Although, I can't really stand by this video overall, as it really wasn't that good. More so just tryna stand up for my Megs and Squids :)

not really a fan of the more modern version of the Siren, where somewhere in history someone just combined an actual Siren with a mermaid. Siren's were ugly bird women (not to be confused with Harpies) that lured sailors to crash their ships onto rocks. I think they would then eat them. it was only in the years after the Greeks that at some point they fused with mermaids to become the mermaid-esque Siren, who is actually beautiful and either lures Sailors into the water to drown, or drown people (men I guess) themselves.
Jörmungandr was not an sea monster he was a world serpent who had used a tree in jotunheim to shed in fact the only reason he was classified as one is bc odin threw him in the oceans of midgard in hopes of drowning him but ended up letting him grow so large he could wrap aroud the earth and bite his tail.
Thalassophobia people be like:
Jorm can wrap himself around midgard which is either the size of earth or the universe (depends on the depiction) either way he is way bigger than this
