Then count in all the dinosaurs and animals that lived waaaay back in the old days, we're missing out on quite a lot of wildlife species.

Definitely. It's disgusting that people do this!! Whether they throw the shark back in the water to drown, starve or be eaten alive or whether they leave the carcass on the boat, it doesn't matter. Finning should be banned. It's doing such horrible things to the populations-especially scalloped hammerheads which really suffer from this... It's revolting that there are people in this world that would actually do that for money or anything other ridiculous thing! I'm glad there is someone else that disagrees with the practice of shark finning

I remember hearing years ago of a sighting in the Bay of Japan estimated to be 10 metres (30 ft ). About 25 years ago in Tassie there were regular net caught whites of bout 4 metres and a local salmon farm has a resident one of 5 -- 6 metres. So much we don't know about our oceans and what's in them.

She's not near as big as the two biggest on record, which were 36 and 37 feet. That's damned near twice as long as this little lady. Amazing creatures

It's those teeth and her being so HUGE that make her scary. I would pee, poop and pass out if I saw her swimming in the water with me. She is something though.

I seen one of these monsters in the Farralon Islands off California. The shark I saw was maybe 22 feet and when it went under the boat it looked like a submarine. You tended to hold onto a good handhold very tight. Maybe 6 foot wide at the fins and 8 foot dorsal. We were in a 38 foot Christ Craft and next to this shark it felt rather small. Guys were tagging these monsters that gather here. They go out in a 8 foot dingy called "The Dinner Plate" never a more earned name. And these biologists treat these monsters as their babies and keep them well fed to put new tags on them.
