Biggest crane vessel in the world. Heerema's new Sleipnir in Gibraltar

Maiden voyage of Sleipnir from Singapore to Gibraltar.
Sleipnir is a next gen Semi Submersible Crane Vessel capable of hoisting 2 times 10.000 tons. That is about 20.000 medium sized cars.
220 meters in length and 102 meters in width, which makes it the largest and strongest crane vessel in the world.
The first crane vessel to run on dual fuel, Low sulphur Marine Gas Oil (MGO) and Liquified Natural gas (LNG) for areas with different environmental requirements.
Besides a cinema, sauna, sports-facilities and relax areas, there is accommodation for 400 crew-members.

Working for 19 years with HMC. Great and proud to be part of it for since late 2017. Started up the catering and lots of challenges came across but after all it became a smooth start. All my colleagues of all departments worked with so much passion to make it possible to have the first succesfull tests and project done and currently on its way for the next!

I sat on the top of the Rock, with my legs dangling over the edge, just a few feet from the 18 inch cannon (is it still there?) in 1971 while serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S Cone DD866. Brought back memories. By the way, cool crane!

Nice video. Does anyone know if the Kolga is dedicated to Sleipnir? I saw a video of her towing Sleipnir into Rotterdam. Would make sense to have a dedicated tug for a vessel that size, as Sleipnir is not very handy. I imagine that Sleipnir has thrusters for dynamic positioning, which can also be used for transit, but would be slow.

The Sleipnir is self-propelled with a minimum service speed of 10 knots, with power generated by means of dual fuel engines - MGO & LNG. Station-keeping is by means of dynamic positioning (DP3) or mooring system. The vessel has 8 thrusters.

Very good video, except all explanation of what these cranes are for was missing. This company must realize that PR is the beginning and end of all business, especially in such a restricted and limited market. If this video was done with participation of the owners, they would do well to rethink the PR strategies. I wish the owners and crew good luck with this marvel of technology.
