HILVERSUM - A fierce fire caused a lot of damage on Tuesday evening. A van went up in flames on Neuweg.
The fire brigade received a report of a vehicle fire just before midnight. On the Neuweg in the parking lot at the former fire station, a van from a fishing company from Huizen was ablaze.
The fire spread to an adjacent barn and fence. Firefighters soon had the blaze under control. The van can be considered lost, the barn sustained significant damage. It is not clear how the fire started. Neighbors suspect arson.
