Is a thrust angle required on that motor placement, or is it straight forward and horizontal. I love the simplicity.

No; it is zero / zero.

would this design scale up to a personal aerial vehicle with electric motor and double counter rotating props? you could use a delta or even a saucer, I think this shape and the saucer are currently classified or we would see designs from NASA like this large scale being tested as they are really the best designs.

This model is slow and has lots of drag and a crazy low wing-loading. I don't think it would be possible to make a full-scale version fly like this does, but I hope someone tries it and proves me wrong.

what is the propeller that you use ?

I wonder where the CG should be positioned ( delta in common ) ?
