preparation for biggest competition of the year (#on the pull) by ‪@farmflix‬.
• FARMFLIX #ONTHEPULL19 ...
I got a cheap holset hx50 , higher flow injector nozzles and 13mm pump elements from the Netherlands in the quest for more power !
I want to build a tractor that has a bit more power to compete with modern high horsepower tractors at these events but still be able to use it for work.
be sure to subscribe to see the race day and Dyno results of the new modifications.
how much power will it make!?
will it blow up!?

Before you changed turbo, you were getting high egt. This would more likely be because when you adjust pump to max it gets wasteful due to the dwell/ amount of rotation you inject fuel for, anything more than 32-34 degrees. Another thing to understand is turbo surge with bigger turbo......if the pressure gets to high for a given flow the gas stalls and resonates. This is one reason to compound turbos.

I hate that I got to this video so late but that 22hsg is not going to be a good match it’s going to give up a ton of torque. The hx50 and 55 series turbos are not the most robust. I prefer the borg Warner s300 and s400 stuff. I don’t know how many cubes that ford is to make a good recommendation but if you want to email me the details I can probably get you onto something that will really thump.

Yeah I hear lots of good things about the Borg's, I've a 365 and 480 on my ram, but tractor will only be making about 50psi, as you know it's torque that breaks stuff! Do you think the hx50 can live at 50 for a wile?

@@allistairc123 yeah with that 22housing it probably will live fine. The 16 and smaller is when we started sending the turbines out the tailpipes on the 5.9 dodges. A 13mm p pump can easily run an s472 if you don't mind turning it 3000rpm. I have several of them running 800-900 hp on 6076 Deere engines with nothing but fire rings done to stock engines. The Ford guy I worked with here we wound up having to get custom studs made for it to keep the head on as they don't have as strong a bolts as the Deere's. That is probably where you will be headed next if you get it under a hard pull with 50psi. 🙂 I don't think you have an intercooler but adding one would help turbo life and power. water injection would help too, easyil another 100hp.
