Bigfoot (NES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete
Ойындар
A playthrough of Acclaim's 1990 racing game for the NES, Bigfoot.
Does anyone else remember that old show Video Power with that guy Johnny Arcade as the host? The one that featured old Acclaim game characters? That was my first exposure to this game - I wonder how many of you have similar memories?
I thought it was a pretty solid game. As a kid the controls totally confuzzled me, and it took me forever to figure out how to play the side-viewed races (really, why do you have to alternate hitting left and right to accelerate?), but once I had figured it out, the game was a fun, if somewhat short lived and easy, little bit of entertainment.
You travel across country in your ridiculously huge monster truck, racing against other ridiculously huge trucks. Each leg begins with an overhead race in which you battle it out for power-ups and cash, all while trying to destroy the other truck. Once that's done, you upgrade your vehicle with your winnings and head into a competition round where you smash rows of cars, drag heavy stuff, or drive up steep hills, all while trying to avoid damaging the parts of your Bigfoot.
It's all pretty simple and the game is quite short, but I enjoyed it. Barring outliers like Back to the Future, it's about typical of Beam's quality for the NES. It looks pretty good, the controls work well (once you understand how they work), and it of course includes the obligatory half-naked women posing in front of your truck. But why does the music sound like it just came from a hoedown?

Turns out you can shift gears and there's a turbo button in the side scrolling part. I had been playing it wrong for nearly 30 years.

Same, the controls in the side-scrolling sections killed my fingers when trying to win those events.
This is one of those games that encouraged being a jerk to your friends, because once a player runs out of money they're replaced by the CPU and can't get back in until the game restarts. And since wrecking on the overhead part penalizes you $500, it would usually devolve into one person trapping the other on the bottom of the screen constantly to screw them over.

Yep lol
This was a memorable game for me. The biggest problem I had with it was the incredibly frustrating controls when it came to the dual screen races. All the button-mashing in the world couldn't make my fucking player move fast enough!

Still one of my top NES games to play bro. The music went perfectly with this game that I would dance to the music to it. 8^)
Brings back so many memories. I remember turning down the volume. Turning on the stereo or popping my favorite cassette in the deck. No need for silly music.
A game I remember renting.
Bigfoot was king of the Monster Trucks at the time. The team pretty much invented the whole aspect of the sport.

BIGFOOT, STILL KING OF THE MONSTER TRUCKS !!!!!
I used to rent this game every time I got my allowance for like 4 weeks straight.
This is the first video game I ever beat, I was 8 years old in 1991 and had rented it from blockbuster video.
This the reason why I have a lifted truck.
I need to find this game. It will be a piece of my childhood returning back
Oh yes the good old days of monster trucks and I think this game came out before double axle or after it
All Beam Software NES Games has Music that Cames from a Ho-Down. And its very good.
One of my favorite NES games NC. Still love the music after all these years. A royal pain at times to beat . But worth enduring after all these years. Now I feel like listening to the soundtrack to it. 8^) Anthony..

My European version plays the music way slower! I think it's the weakest link in the game. Same tunes through the whole thing is pretty disappointing. I so wish someone would make a somewhat realistic modern monster truck game that is based on the 80's stuff before all the Monster Jam tube chassis fiberglass machines.
Had this for NES as a kid. I liked monster trucks and bigfoot more than pretty much anything else but I was only 3 and I could not figure out how to actually play this game

Wow beat the terminater I would hate to see who would replace the smasher but all kidding aside it takes a long time just to take out the computer trucks I was never close to taking out the terminater 😮
I remember the hard driving sbs events, those were a real pain in the ass by giving your thumb severe blisters after long sessions😤🤣

Once you get past the weird controls, it can be really satisfying to smash stuff with the Bigfoot - and things are even better in 2-player mode. If you ignore the Acclaim name on the box, you'll have some fun with this one.

This was a cool game and I beat it with both trucks they should think about remaking this game where you build your own monster truck and you travel the circuit and the final race is agenst bigfoot you go up agenst the legend to become the new champion that would be cool

this was the first video game I played back when I was like 3, I played multi-player with my older brother all the time, the cartridge is somewhere in the garage likely destroyed by bit rot though the NES is long gone
This was my fav game. 😂
I definitely played this a lot when I was little but I still wanna know what kind of 80's drugs they were on at Acclaim that they thought the best control scheme for the races was to rock the d-pad back and forth. The only reason I beat this as a kid was with the NES Advantage controller. Still never done it with a regular controller and I'm not sure if I even could today.

NES games had such anti climatic endings for all the shit you had to go through to get there
I wonder if we could get this with an NFS crossover or something like the run but with monster trucks that would be cool.

I do remember that Video Power cartoon (which was a rip-off to Captain N if you ask me). This game is actually forgettable for me, and one of the reason for that is because I never got the side scrolling events as I went nowhere, neither the A or B buttons were used to accelerate.
