I was stuck watching NASCAR with my family... And then along came Bob Chandler and BIGFOOT, and rescued me from the round and round. My childhood was never the same after the first time I saw "Big Blue" squashing a bunch of Chevrolets and Oldsmobiles! 😁

My 11 year old just fell in love! He's been into monster since i can remember but he hadn't seen any in action just yet. I'm so glad i showed him this video. He's been telling us for a couple of years that driving and building these badass machines is his dream. Now he's definitely wanting to do it! Thank you guys for sharing!

I love this truck I wish I could've seen it in person! (I'm 31 so it was probably between 90 and 93 when I went to my first shows) Bigfoot will always be king in my book. Thankfully their still around doing it and I was lucky enough to take my sons both 2 and 4 years old to see the Bigfoot truck and coolest thing of all they got to go wearing MY old BIGFOOT t-shirts from when I was their age. I hope this sport never dies.

This was great, i loved Bigfoot in the mid 80s when i was a kid. These were true trucks, that just made it better in my opinion. Nothing beats that big blue monster with the blown 640. Nothing.

Yeah, only thing is #1 was the only one that ever used the big 640ci V8. This is #2 and it was using a blown 460ci V8, still a powerhouse, but not in the same league as the 640ci was.

WOW... I like the newer racing version of the monster trucks, and appreciate the engineering that goes into them, while they handle unimaginable stresses over and over again.... BUT, the vintage trucks, for some reason, just had a really sexy look about them, Yes, I am sure, the older trucks would take 20 years off the life span of the drivers, as they were dang near beat to death in the leaf sprung chassis's, but I still love the look of these first series trucks, Thank you for the memories, as per this upload, Dru

I agree these early trucks were sweet lookin. They should have a retro class where they build steel body trucks on top of all the new suspension/chassis technology and race them on old school style tracks. That I would watch.

I always thought their hydraulic self-opening hoods were one of the coolest things about these older BIGFOOTs. Really showcasing the blown V8 in all its 640 cubic inch glory. Not like today's trucks where everything's hidden inside tubular space frames and behind plastic body panels. These were real pickup trucks made of steel by men with big brass balls and big lead feet, hence the name *BIGFOOT*

Ok after watching this again I think there are 4 different people driving. I think Kramer does a tame crush with Bob in it to start then we see Don Breitweiser driving because he gets out then we see possibly a new driver being tried out with Bob and his hat riding Shotgun. Then you see Kramer flog number two like he's racing it then I believe it's Ken Koelling driving in the orange then Kramer again.

  • @timt8029

Who was Don Breitweiser in the Bigfoot crew? I can only ever remember him from the Bigfoot in action VHS where he says he's driver of Bigfoot #2 but I honestly never hear much of anything about him. You always hear about Jim Kramer, Ken Koelling, Andy Brass, John Piant and Dan Runte. I guess Don never really did a bunch of racing and only really participated in some of the exhibition crushes in the early days.

Hard to tell exactly, It's either #4 with the bricknose facelift or it's a very early #6. The only other race prepped steel bodied straight rail frame Bigfoot that carried the bricknose look was #7 which wasn't built until the middle of 1988. I'm betting that truck is #4 because from what I can tell it doesn't appear to have the full bed length roll bars which I believe only #6 carried.

#1 is a 1974 F-250 (I do believe) and the idea for #2 came after they installed a aftermarket front end on #1 in 1978. 1 and 2 are basically identical trucks. The only difference is the front end.

  • @nathanmcdonald610

@@Payne427 Oh there were more difference's than that. The biggest one, literally and figuratively was the engine, #1 used the big 640ci Ford V8 and was the designated mud bogger and hill climber. #2 used a more standard blown 460ci V8 and #2 also ran planetaries which made it more durable in car crushing.
