I just revisited this video and most people simple don’t get what an absolutely freaking phenomenal musicianship this is…the band are ALL on key, in the groove and nailed it…I’m jealous as a MF because I wish I had the skills to roll like these cats! Never will it ever get old…FANTASTIC. Thanks guys for bringing a smile to face, once again!

Ian Thornley is a MONSTER on guitar and an incredible singer. Every member of this band is so talented. Completely overlooked by most people, as the "music industry" still thrives - completely driven by commerce. It used to be be A&R reps and record labels - now it is the likes of Spotify and "play lists". Great music will always be great music and it will endure. Crap will always be CRAP and the crap "artists" always just fade away like farts in the wind. Always have and always will.

I don't know if this will ever be read by Ian or any member of his band, but... In 2014 I suffered a near fatal illness, and while my recovery has been slow, the music from this band pulled me back. I have literally walked over 200 miles listening to Big Wreck. The complexity, song crafting, musicianship and depth of lyric content is a banner for all things songwriting. I've heard Ian say that if he were to "define" the music of Big Wreck, he would say that it is "quality". I can't think of a better description of their craft. All I can say is thank you to Ian and the guys. Your music has literally pulled me back from the brink. I wait in anticipation for the new record and plan to walk another 200 miles to it.

I remember when I was 19.....20 years ago Big Wreck played in Sarnia, Ont. They had just released their first record. I remember watching them play in Centennial Park and there were maybe 100 of us there. Nobody really knew who they were but they put the best show on that night. I was standing on the speaker stand and gave the bass guitarist my lighter lol so he could light his smoke lol. They were also from that area. Best live band I have ever seen...especially when they rotated instruments.

This band is incredibly talented. Never heard of them until just a few weeks ago after seeing Ian Thornley in an Anderton's Suhr demo/interview and I was blown away by Ian's guitar skills. That made me search the band name on KZread and have been watching all their videos since then. The entire band is just amazing. You just made a new fan.

The performance here is simply incredible, and one can easily tell that there's no melodyne or autotune or playback or any of the things that have made the current live music business an absolute fake. The majority of the audience these days just don't have enough brains to appreciate this kind of music and songwriting quality.

  • @frettamohetta7326

+stonerdemon I couldn't of said it better myself. The "dumbed down" generation that is today's music "fans" wouldn't know musical talent if it kicked them in the junk. They don't realize the time, dedication, hard work and chemistry bewteen band mates that goes into creating a jem of a song like this. Nope, what they appreciate is that Kanye had 17 producers, 24 co-writers, 67 sampled tracks and 12 guest "artists" on his latest single in which all of the hard work was done for him. What they don't understand is that today's pop stars and hip hop stars have no connection with their fans whatsoever through their music. That's the bond that is so crucial between artist and fan is the music and a true fan with an ear for talent connects to the song because of the message, the melody, the appreciation of the hard work that goes into writing an amazing song, not the lack of talent, lip syncing, the diva attitudes and the pre-packaged pop star they see before them who has been groomed by the industry and told how to act, what to wear, what to sing/perform. How can you respect and/or connect with something so obviously fake? I don't get it.

+Fretta Mohetta You know, looking back at the music business and the meaning of being an artist - a rock star, if you wish - I think that the roles have been inverted. In the past, music was the motivation and fame (money, girls, scandal, drugs, whatever) was the consequence. Now it's exactly the opposite, music is just a consequence, a byproduct, an excuse. Take modern Miley Cyrus, for example. Why is she so famous? Well, scandal is the motivation (twerking, stupid antics) and music is just an excuse, a tool to be on tour, go onstage and make money. Main problem is that the kids of today don't want to be musicians; they just go after the frivolity, the likes, the youtube subscribers. If they can't become "artists", they get depressed and many of them even commit suicide. "Instant gratification", experts call it. Well, with the arrival of the digital age and illegal mp3 downloading, it's clear that music is not a profitable business anymore, but it's really sad that now music is being used by the big record companies to create ridiculous characters ("artists") that the young ones love so much to consume.

+stonerdemon the part about Kids isnt True. maybe i'm not a kid anymore but i know a lot of People from my generation That are trying really hard to become musicians but in my opinion theres always something wrong in what they do. sometimes they dont care about music theory sometimes they dont Give a sh** about their rig or they are Just copying mainstream bands. Thats there reason why music is the way it is nowadays

  • @stonerdemon

+Erv von Ox Well man, all I see on channels like Nickelodeon is a bunch of frivolous kids who act like adults, caring only about singing and/or acting and all of them (specially the girls) sing exactly the same way. Maybe the problem is that the music industry has set standards on how modern singers should sing. For example, every time I watch shows like "The Voice" or "American idol", the women sing exactly like Cristina Aguilera or Rihanna. It's like a pre-requisite. On the other side, men want to sound like the typical indie songwriter. These standards make all these potential stars profitable and tour-viable. So it's true what you say about copying other bands or artists, but in my opinion, they're not just copying. They're blindly following the industry new standards.

+stonerdemon perfectly said. The music industry is just that now, an industry. Creativity and creative control is a thing of the past. We need a musical revolution like we had in the 60's the 70's and the 90's to reboot songwriting.
